Stephen Johnson has joined Royal Palms Resort and Spa, A Destination Hotel, as the new general manager of the 119-room resort located here. He comes from Ventana Inn & Spa in Big Sur, CA, where he served in the same role. Johnson brings close to 20 years of hospitality experience to the position, including eight years in general management and director of food & beverage roles in California. As general manager of Royal Palms Resort and Spa, A Destination Hotel, Johnson will oversee the AAA-Four Diamond property, which is also a member of Historic Hotels of America. According to the resort, it combines the graciousness and sophistication of a Mediterranean villa with the intimacy and privacy of a secluded retreat located at the foot of Camelback Mountain. Johnson will lead the resort team and manage the day-to-day operations, including overseeing T. Cook’s restaurant, The Mix Up Bar and Alvadora Spa.
