M&R Hotel Management today announced the appointment of Anthony Lugaro as general manager of its 95-room Holiday Inn Express Staten Island West hotel in the Travis neighborhood near the West Shore Expressway. Lugaro, a 10-year hospitality industry veteran who has worked in hotels in New York and Georgia, oversees all aspects of the hotel's management, including operations, sales, marketing, security, maintenance, housekeeping and accounting. He previously served M&R Hotel Management as assistant general manager of the Holiday Inn NYC – Lower East Side, where he started as front office director in 2013. Prior to joining M&R, Lugaro was assistant general manager of the Holiday Inn Express Madison Square Garden from 2011-2012 and front office manager at the Hampton Inn Times Square South from 2010-201l. Earlier in his career, he held similar positions at Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inn hotels in New York and Savannah, Georgia. Lugaro earned a bachelor's degree in business from Pontifical Catholic University in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and a certification in property management systems from Hilton Worldwide. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
