The Raleigh, the boutique hotel known as the “Grande Dame” of South Beach, is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael MacDonnell as director of food and beverage. MacDonnell brings more than two decades of experience as one of the industry’s top experts in mixology and service to the historic property. He joins Chef Joshua Elliott to complete the culinary leadership team. As director of food and beverage at The Raleigh MacDonnell will oversee restaurant, bar and poolside service. His first task will be to refresh the cocktail menu at the historic Martini Bar, a speakeasy-style bar in the lobby, a favorite through the years of stars from the Rat Pack to Robert De Niro. Throughout his career MacDonnell has opened and operated over 40 concepts across the nation and brings a wealth of knowledge to The Raleigh. Prior to moving to Miami, MacDonnell was highly regarded for his work in Las Vegas with properties including Bellagio, The Light Group and Monte Carlo Resort & Casino where he served as director of beverage.
