Sammy Carolus has been appointed as General Manager at Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit

Sammy Carolus has been appointed general manager of Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit, set to open later this year on vibrant Sukhumvit Road. In his new role, Carolus returns to Thailand -- a place in which he has spent more than half of his 25-year professional career -- to lead Bangkok’s first Hyatt Regency branded hotel. Prior to this appointment, he was the general manager at Grand Hyatt Taipei. Carolus began his career with the Hyatt Group in 1992 as a sales associate at Bali Hyatt in his home country of Indonesia. He later served as associate director of business development and director of business development at Grand Hyatt Bali. In 2004, Carolus was transferred to Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok, where he helped launch several cutting-edge initiatives, including the first residential-style event facility in the Asia-Pacific region and Bangkok’s first residential spa. Six years later, Carolus returned to Hyatt Regency Hua Hin & THE BARAI, this time as the general manager and with the coveted Jay A. Pritzker Award for Leadership, which honours associates who have consistently demonstrated their ability as leaders and mentors at top-performing Hyatt hotels. In 2016, Carolus was appointed general manager of the 853-room Grand Hyatt Taipei, where he oversaw the hotel’s landmark refurbishment as well as the opening of a brand new spa and two restaurants.
