Dieter Schmitz has been named Area General Manager of DC and Riggs Hotel at Riggs Washington DC Hotel

As Area General Manager, Schmitz will be responsible for overseeing and executing all aspects of operations for the launch of Lore Group's first hotel project in the U.S. Housed in the former historic Riggs National Bank, the forthcoming property will feature 181 guest rooms and suites, an expansive restaurant and lounge, rooftop event space, and subterranean bar.

Schmitz joins Lore Group with 15+ years of hospitality experience across the United States. He has directly led six successful opening teams, including three new build flagship hotels in Manhattan where he served as Area General Manager for IHG. Schmitz led two openings in Southern California and Manhattan to be named onto the prestigious Top 25 Hotels in the United States via the prestigious Travelers' Choice Awards and all six openings held the #1 spot in their markets on Trip Advisor under his leadership. He brings a passion for creating differentiating guest experiences, and in creating and maintaining a flourishing work culture for his valued team members. Schmitz will move to DC with his wife Isabell, their 10-month-old son Nico, and their French bulldog Wellington. He is an avid Los Angeles Kings fan, loves tennis, and enjoys traveling to Austria to visit Isabell's family.
