Sean Michael Runyon

Shutters on the Beach is pleased to announce the appointment of Sean Michael Runyon as Executive Chef of 1 Pico, its premiere oceanfront restaurant and al fresco courtyard. With over a decade of culinary expertise from Michelin- starred restaurants and Forbes Five-Star Hotels, Runyon will bring seasonally inspired and innovative dishes that celebrate California's farmers, ranchers and fishermen.

A SoCal native, Chef Runyon holds a degree from the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco and honed his skills at top restaurants such as 4 Corners, Farmer Brown and Chambers Eat & Drink. In Los Angeles, he served as Chef de Tournant for Nobu Malibu and Nikita Malibu, and as Sous Chef for The Peninsula Beverly Hills. Sean's most recent position was Chef de Cuisine for the ultra-luxe Discovery Land private clubs in the Bahamas.

When he is not in the kitchen, Runyon loves spending time in nature and hits the slopes in Mammoth and Lake Tahoe, California when the snow falls.
