Gemma Fortier has been appointed as General Manager at Hotel Windrow
Hotel Windrow, a 59-room boutique hotel located in the heart of downtown Ellensburg and managed by Columbia Hospitality, has announced the appointment of Gemma Fortier as general manager. She will oversee the daily operations of the hotel, community support, and partnerships.
Fortier is stepping into the role as previous general manager, Matt Skaletsky, was promoted to area general manager within Columbia Hospitality. "Gemma was the natural choice to take on the role of general manager," said Steve Townsend, Managing Partner of Hotel Windrow. "She is a skilled leader and a talented, experienced hospitality professional. We are looking forward to the continued growth and awareness of this new boutique hotel in downtown Ellensburg."
Most recently, Fortier served as director of operations at Hotel Windrow, where her goal was to exceed guest expectations. Prior to her arrival at Hotel Windrow, Fortier was the front-of-house manager at Swiftwater Cellars in Cle Elum; and served as the assistant general manager at San Fermo, where she led the front-of-house and back-of-house teams, managing service and sales.
Originally from a rural dairy town in New Zealand, Fortier is a self-proclaimed world traveler, having moved to Oregon at the age of 18 and finding her passion for hospitality as a young adult. She lives with her husband, who is a wildland firefighter in the Okanagan-Wenatchee National Forest, and her 18-month-old daughter. The family enjoys raising bees and chickens and tending to their large vegetable garden in Roslyn.
