Yulissa Acosta has been appointed as Chef de Cuisine at Hearth ‘61 at Mountain Shadows Resort Scottsdale

Mountain Shadows Resort Scottsdale, Paradise Valley's upscale boutique resort situated between Camelback and Mummy Mountains, is pleased to announce the appointment of Yulissa Acosta as chef de cuisine of the resort's signature restaurant, Hearth '61.

Yulissa Acosta

Born in Nogales, Mexico, Acosta was raised in Phoenix, where her interest in a culinary career sparked while she was in high school. Upon graduating, she was awarded a scholarship that led her to the Classic Cooking Academy in Scottsdale. She then went on to work at Bink's Midtown and Mirabel Golf Club during her early culinary career.

On the Hearth '61 scene from the very beginning, Acosta first joined the team in 2017 as a cook and helped open the restaurant in Paradise Valley. With her incredible culinary knowledge and desire to improve her craft, she quickly rose to sous chef in 2018. In her new role, Acosta will oversee menu creation and continued culinary development at Hearth '61.

With nearly a decade of industry experience, Chef Acosta has trained with many renowned chefs in the Valley, including Hearth '61's very own Chef Charles Wiley and Chef Alfred Muro, as well as Kevin Binkley and Brandon Gauthier. She loves cooking with Mexican-American and Southwestern cuisines inspired by her roots, and enjoys incorporating French style, similar to what she grew up with at home. When she is not in the kitchen, Chef Acosta relaxes at home in Ahwatukee with her pug puppy, Leo.
