James Sutcliffe has been appointed as General Manager at Avani+ Khao Lak Resort

James Sutcliffe has joined the Avani+ Khao Lak Resort in southern Thailand as General Manager.

An Australian national, James began his hospitality career with Niyama Maldives working in F&B before taking on his first management role with YTL Hotels in Malaysia.

He joins the Avani+ resort near Phuket from the InterContinental Khao Yai Resort where he worked as pre-opening General Manager since early 2022.

With over a decade of operational experience in the hospitality industry, other notable appointments include Resort Manager of InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau; EAM of Como Point Yamu in Phuket; and Resort Manager of Gaya Island Resort in Malaysia.

James holds a MBA from Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School in New South Wales, Australia and certificates in Financial Management, Leadership and Revenue Asset Management from Cornell University.

James Sutcliffe is an alumnus of Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School (BMIHMS) at Torrens University .
