Minor Hotels has appointed Rohit Chopra as Area Commercial Director for India, signaling the company's intent to strengthen its presence in the region. Chopra will oversee the group's commercial activities across India, focusing on driving revenue growth, building long-lasting client relationships, and enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty. Reporting to Vijay Krishnan, Vice President of Operations for India, and Richard Beh, Vice President of Commercial for Asia, Chopra brings over 26 years of industry experience, having worked with global hospitality giants such as Marriott, Hyatt, and Accor. His most recent role was Director of National Sales for India & South Asia at Accor, where he spearheaded strategic sales and distribution initiatives, contributing significantly to the company's success both in India and internationally.

Minor Hotels has ambitious plans for its operations in India, aiming to open 50 new hotels over the next decade, with a focus on the upper-upscale and luxury segments. The group is set to unveil its second property in the country, the Anantara Jewel Bagh Jaipur Hotel, later this year. Anantara, the group's flagship brand, has seen substantial growth among Indian outbound travelers, with a 72 percent increase in room night production across its properties in Asia and the Middle East in 2023 compared to the previous year. This upward trend has continued into 2024, positioning India as one of the fastest-growing international markets for the brand.
