Michael Rosenthal has been appointed as Executive Chef at Timbri Hotel San Francisco, Curio Collection by Hilton
Timbri Hotel, a Curio Collection by Hilton property located in the heart of downtown San Francisco, is proud to announce the appointment of Michael Rosenthal as Executive Chef. A seasoned culinary leader with a pedigree that includes some of the city’s most prestigious Michelin-starred kitchens, Rosenthal oversees all food and beverage operations for the property, including the vibrant rooftop lounge, Rise Over Run, the hotel’s signature Spoke Coffee and Café, and the breakfast program at Tenderheart.
A native of Florida, Rosenthal first discovered his passion for the fast-paced environment of professional kitchens while working in a restaurant during college. Moving to San Francisco to launch his career, he spent three formative years at Alexander’s Steakhouse, mastering every station on the savory line while learning the inner workings of a high-end restaurant kitchen from the ground up. He later joined the team of One65 under Michelin-starred Chef Claude Le Tohic, where he learned French culinary techniques, before broadening his skills in live-fire cooking at Ittoryu Gozu and later gaining experience on the hotel side at La Societe at the Hyatt Regency Downtown San Francisco.
Most notably, Rosenthal served as Sous Chef at the Michelin-star Marlena, where he was part of the team that retained its star consecutively until its closure in 2023. His culinary style is deeply influenced by this period, characterized by a seasonal, product-focused approach that celebrates the seasonality of Northern California ingredients.
In his new role at Timbri, Rosenthal is leaning into the hotel’s diverse spaces to create multi-faceted culinary experiences from Spoke Coffee & Cafe and Tenderheart restaurant on the first floor to Rise Over Run, the hotel’s rooftop bar overlooking the city skyline.
In addition to overseeing the hotel’s culinary concepts, Rosenthal will draw inspiration from the Timbri rooftop garden to drive his hyperlocal cuisine and debut refreshed menus across all dining outlets.
