Jimmy Furtado has been appointed as General Manager at Hyatt Vacation Club at Highlands Inn
Hyatt Vacation Club at Highlands Inn has named Jimmy Furtado as its new general manager. Furtado steps into the role at one of the Monterey Peninsula's most storied coastal properties, bringing more than 20 years of hospitality leadership and a track record of operational innovation across premier resort brands.
He assumes responsibility for day-to-day operations, owner relations and the guest experience at the longtime Carmel landmark, which sits along the Big Sur coastline overlooking the Pacific.
"It's a privilege to join this incredible community," Furtado said. "My vision for Highlands Inn is to build on the strong foundation already in place by continuing to deliver exceptional service, enhancing amenities and fostering a genuine sense of community among our owners. I look forward to hearing their ideas as we move forward together."
Furtado brings a strong foundation in strategic planning, brand management and relationship building, with expertise spanning food and beverage, front office, housekeeping and recreation across premier resort properties.
He joined Marriott Vacations Worldwide in 2023 as director of operations at Marriott's Newport Coast Villas, a 697-villa resort, where he led cross-functional teams to measurable results. During his tenure, Furtado helped earn Good Housekeeping's 2025 Family Resort of the Year honors for the region and received the MVW West Region Innovation Award in 2024.
Before joining Marriott Vacations Worldwide, Furtado held leadership roles at JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort & Spa, Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina and W Montreal, where he introduced guest service programs that improved engagement and satisfaction scores.
Furtado holds a Diplôme d'études collégiales in hotel and restaurant management from LaSalle College in Montreal. Born and raised in Montreal, he is fluent in French and Portuguese, and counts France and Portugal among his favorite destinations.
Outside of work, Furtado enjoys the outdoors, including biking and golfing, and exploring local restaurants. He and his wife, Jessica, relocated to Carmel with their miniature schnauzer, Mr. Feeny, and say they are eager to put down roots and become part of the Monterey Peninsula community.
