Claire McGinnis has been appointed as General Manager at The Alan Manchester
Independent Manchester hotel The Alan has welcomed Claire McGinnis as General Manager, joining the team in April 2026 at the start of an exciting new chapter for the hotel, which has recently completed a significant refurbishment of 70 of its bedrooms, become partner to Manchester Art Gallery, and is currently developing a brand-new website due to launch later this year.
McGinnis brings more than a decade of experience in hotel management, with previous roles including General Manager at Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly, Hotel Manager at INNSiDE by Melia Liverpool, and Operations Manager at DoubleTree Chester and Crowne Plaza Chester. Throughout her career, she has been recognised for her leadership, including being nominated by her team for Mentor of the Year at the Manchester Hoteliers Association Awards. She also oversaw 137 weddings in a single year while at Great John Street Hotel.
In her role at The Alan, McGinnis will lead all aspects of the hotel's operations, guest experience and commercial performance, with a focus on providing the team with the support they need to grow and develop.
Set in a repurposed Victorian warehouse opposite Manchester Art Gallery, The Alan opened on Princess Street in 2022. Design-led and built for the city it sits in, it features an open-plan kitchen, bar and coworking space on the ground floor, and 137 bedrooms across its six upper floors.
