Alex Andrade has been appointed as Area General Manager at The Westin Playa Vallarta, an All-Inclusive Resort
The Westin Playa Vallarta, an All-Inclusive Resort, is pleased to announce the appointment of hospitality veteran Alex Andrade as Area General Manager. With more than four decades of experience across the hospitality industry, Andrade brings an extensive track record in resort operations, all-inclusive hospitality and team leadership to the newly transformed property. In his new role, he will oversee the resort’s 714 associates and guide the team as The Westin Playa Vallarta continues to attract travelers as Westin’s first all-inclusive resort in Mexico.
A seasoned hospitality executive, Andrade most recently served as Area Managing Director in Cancún and previously as Vice President of Operations, Field for Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection. His career spans senior leadership and operations positions across Mexico, the Caribbean and the United States, including Viceroy Los Cabos, Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel in Puerto Rico, Yacht Haven Grande in St. Thomas, AMResorts and Playa Hotels & Resorts. Throughout his career, Andrade has focused on building collaborative teams and mentoring the next generation of hospitality professionals.
In his new role, Andrade will focus on delivering a cohesive guest experience and fostering a collaborative team culture as The Westin Playa Vallarta continues to evolve following its conversion to an all-inclusive resort. The opportunity to help lead the property through this next chapter was a key factor in his decision to join The Westin Playa Vallarta.
Andrade’s appointment follows the resort’s recent transformation, which introduced 281 redesigned accommodations, including 30 private plunge pool suites and 16 adults-only swim-up rooms, along with new culinary concepts such as Agave Studio, where guests can explore Mexico’s agave culture through small-batch mezcal tastings. The enhancements mark a new chapter for the property as Westin expands its all-inclusive offering in Puerto Vallarta.
A Chicago native now residing in Puerto Vallarta, Andrade attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Outside of his professional responsibilities, he enjoys golf, basketball and spending time with his family.
