Giorgio Di Pietro has been appointed as General Manager at Planters Inn
Planters Inn, a crown jewel of Charleston's Historic District, is pleased to announce the appointment of Giorgio Di Pietro as General Manager. Bringing more than two decades of international luxury hospitality experience, Di Pietro will lead the iconic property into a new chapter as it embarks on a landmark renovation designed to honour its storied legacy and shape its future for years to come.
With a career spanning luxury hotels, resorts and cruise lines across Europe, the United States and the Middle East, Di Pietro brings particular expertise in hotel transformations, repositionings, openings and operational growth. Most recently, he served as General Manager of Esmé Hotel Miami Beach, where he led the 141-room lifestyle property through continued operational and financial growth, including year-over-year improvement in net operating income and a significant reduction in employee turnover. During his tenure, Esmé was also among just six hotels in Miami Beach and nine hotels across Miami-Dade County to receive a Michelin Key two years in a row. Di Pietro's career has also included leadership positions with PUBLIC Hotel New York, Nautilus by Arlo, Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club and Starwood Hotels & Resorts, as well as hospitality roles with Celebrity Cruises, a Royal Family in the Middle East, Group King Kamehameha in Mallorca and Taj Hotels Resorts & Palaces in London.
Across these roles, Di Pietro has developed a reputation for balancing commercial performance with highly personalised service. His leadership style centres on talent development and a culture of genuine hospitality, with an emphasis on mentoring team members and creating pathways for employees to grow into leadership roles.
Born in Naples, Italy, Di Pietro holds a Bachelor's degree in Hospitality & Business Administration Management from the University of Naples Federico II, an Executive MBA from ADM International Business School in Madrid and a Hospitality & Tourism Management Certificate from Florida Atlantic University. He is fluent in English, Italian and Spanish.
At Planters Inn, Di Pietro will oversee the hotel as its renovation progresses through the autumn and winter, culminating in the completion of refreshed guest accommodations, public spaces and Peninsula Grill in early 2027. The project is designed to strike a balance between the historic soul of Planters Inn and a more refined, contemporary sensibility, reinforcing the hotel's place within Charleston's evolving luxury hospitality landscape.
