Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, a premier waterfront destination in the heart of downtown San Diego, announces the appointment of Rhanda Richardson as General Manager. A seasoned hospitality executive with extensive experience across luxury, convention, resort and full-service hotels, Richardson will oversee all aspects of operations at the 1,366-room property, bringing a people-first leadership approach and a proven track record of driving operational excellence, commercial growth and exceptional guest experiences.
Richardson began her career with Marriott as a cocktail server, rising through the ranks to hold leadership positions across sales, marketing and operations before advancing to General Manager roles. Throughout her career, she has spearheaded hotel repositioning initiatives, developed commercial growth strategies and led operational transformations while fostering strong relationships with ownership groups and hotel associates. Known for her commitment to talent development and building collaborative workplace cultures, Richardson has consistently delivered results in guest satisfaction, associate engagement, market share and financial performance.
Most recently, Richardson served as General Manager of JW Marriott Anaheim Resort, where she played an instrumental role in strengthening the property's position as a leading luxury and convention destination while driving continued operational and commercial success. Her extensive experience managing complex hospitality operations and cultivating high-performing teams will be instrumental as she leads Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina into its next chapter.
Beyond her operational leadership, Richardson has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to community engagement and the hospitality industry. Most recently, she served on the Visit Anaheim Board of Directors and as Chair of the Anaheim Tourism Improvement District Advisory Council. Throughout her career, she has held numerous leadership positions within tourism, hospitality and business organizations across Southern California, strengthening partnerships that support regional tourism and economic development.
