Scandic Go Continues to Expand

Scandic has signed a long-term lease agreement for two new Scandic Go hotels in central Gothenburg and Umeå. The hotels are expected to open in 2026 with a total of 276 rooms, and the project involves converting existing office buildings. This will bring the number of Scandic Go hotels in the company’s pipeline to five with a total of 876 rooms in Sweden and Finland.

Marriott Expands Footprint in France with 10 Additions Anticipated by the End of 2025

Marriott International, Inc., announced its plans to expand its portfolio in Poland with the expected addition of more than 10 properties in the next few years, including the debut of two brands - Le Méridien and Element Hotels by Westin - in the market. The anticipated openings will further enhance the company’s footprint in the country, where it currently has a portfolio of 24 properties and over 4,500 rooms across 12 brands and eight cities - Warsaw, Sopot, Krakow, Poznan, Katowice, Wroclaw, Gdynia and Szczecin. The charming Boutique Hotel Torre di Cala Piccola in Monte Argentario, which had been owned for 30 years by Cala Piccola SpA, is now part of Erqole; a company within the Swedish group, Qarlbo AB, owned by the Jonsson family. As part of its growing Italian portfolio, Erqole owns and manages the new boutique hotel on the island, LA ROQQA, and its exclusive beach club, Isolotto, in addition to managing the restyling of Fattoria La Capitana in Magliano, province of Grosseto, and the complete renovation of Cirio, a former fishing plant in Porto Ercole that has been abandoned for 40 years and is being transformed into a luxury hotel by architect, Marco Casamonti (Archea Associati architecture studio). Through this acquisition, Erqole endeavors to broaden its portfolio of unparalleled hospitality within Argentario and reinforce the Jonsson family’s vision of long-term revitalization of the region.
