Marriott International, Inc., today announced that the company accelerated its expansion in Greater China in 2025 and signed a record-breaking total of over 200 deals throughout the year, representing 25% year-over-year growth in annual signings in the region. With a deal signed every two days or fewer, the company added more than 36,000 rooms to the regional pipeline in 2025. This robust momentum underscores Marriott’s continued growth and long-term focus on the Greater China market.

Two consecutive years of record-breaking growth in the region further exemplify our confidence in deepening Marriott’s footprint in Greater China. Fueled by our continued focus on localization, this strong momentum reinforces our long-term market potential and enables us to deliver exceptional travel experiences across more destinations. Looking ahead, we intend to remain steadfast to our customer-centric approach to deliver more locally relevant products and experiences, further unlocking the power of travel to connect guests with the journeys that matter most to them. Yibing Mao, President, Greater China, Marriott International

Luxury and Premium Brands Continue to Lead the Market

Marriott further reinforced its strength in the luxury and premium segments in 2025 with milestone signings that are expected to strengthen its footprint in major cities and key destinations, including anticipated openings in Guangzhou (with the planned debut of The St. Regis); Shenzhen (with the expected opening of the second Ritz-Carlton), and Nanjing (with the anticipated debut of JW Marriott).

The company also signed agreements to bring iconic luxury brands to other highly regarded destinations in Greater China. Through new signings, Marriott plans to welcome its second Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Dunhuang, a cultural gem along the Silk Road, while the coastal resort city of Sanya expects to open its second St. Regis Resort.

Marriott’s premium brands maintained strong momentum in 2025 with over 30 signings in the region. Milestone openings in the premium segment included the regional debut of Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy. Artik Suzhou, Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy was signed in early 2025 and celebrated its opening in Suzhou less than one year later on February 6, 2026. Design Hotels returned to the Chinese mainland with the opening of The ArcadiaPlace, Lugu Lake in September, and the company signed four deals for the brand in 2025. Premium brands are also slated to make debuts in several destinations, including Guangzhou, with the debut of Renaissance; Ji’nan, with its first Westin Hotel and Resort; and Huangshan, a UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage site, where Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is set to debut. In addition, Marriott secured the signings of several dual-brand projects in destinations such as Ji’nan and Hangzhou, offering more diverse experiences for travelers.

Select Service Brands Flourish as a Key Growth Engine in Greater China

In 2025, Marriott’s growth engine of select service brands – Fairfield by Marriott, Four Points by Sheraton, AC Hotels and Moxy – continued to demonstrate strong momentum in Greater China. Leveraging innovative localized products, the volume of signed deals of the above select service engine brands increased by 40% compared to 2024.

Fairfield by Marriott, featuring updated design and experiences, celebrated the milestone of 150 open and pipeline hotels in Greater China. In addition, the brand achieved same-year signing and opening across multiple projects like in Beijing Capital Airport, Shanghai Xuhui Center, and Chengdu Tianfu Square, and has plans to continue expanding into more emerging destinations in the region such as Tai’an and Luoyang.

Four Points by Sheraton celebrated its 100th opening in Greater China, with new signings continuing to expand across prime locations in key cities, including Beijing, Chongqing, and Shenzhen, as well as popular cultural and leisure destinations such as Zhuhai, Guilin, and Lushan. AC Hotels by Marriott, refreshed with localized design and experiences curated for Chinese travelers, signed multiple deals in 2025, including Hangzhou, Wuhan, and Xiamen.

Conversions continue to drive momentum for the region. Signed in March 2025, Four Points by Sheraton Shenzhen Nanshan is set to transform an existing property in the city’s core innovation district, while AC Hotel Wuhan Hankou is slated to revitalize a nearly 40-year-old landmark building in the city’s core area. The Westin Changsha, signed in August 2025 and opened by year-end, underscoring the company’s excellence and efficiency in delivering premium conversion projects.

Marriott's sustained growth in Greater China through 2025 is underpinned by our robust brand influence, industry-leading loyalty program and channel advantages, as well as the excellence of management and franchising operation models. We plan to continue to cater to the evolving market demands through strategic location planning and diversified travel experiences, while consistently delivering value to our owners. Gavin Yu, Chief Development Officer, Greater China, Marriott International
