Paul Linder has been appointed as General Manager at Uma by COMO and COMO Shambhala Estate

Swiss-born Paul Linder comes to COMO with a wealth of experience managing distinguished hotels and wellness resorts all over the world. His previous role was with Chiva-Som in Thailand, where he was General Manager for over 10 years.Paul, who has also held senior management positions at The Shilla Hotel Seoul, The Oriental in Bangkok and Badrutt’s Palace in St Moritz, will divide his duties between COMO’s two properties, in central Bali. Although distinct in what they offer–Uma Ubud is an intimate retreat with a focus on discovery and active pursuits, while the Estate concentrates on privacy, wellbeing, nutrition and yoga–the two share COMO’s holistic ethos and commitment to understated luxury. Many guests often choose to divide their Balinese experience between the two COMO properties when they visit the island.

Peter Maurice van Peborgh-Gooch has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at The Nikko Bali Resort

The Nikko Bali Resort and Spa has appointed Peter Maurice van Peborgh-Gooch as Director of Sales and Marketing. He will be overseeing the department, replacing Joy Cartwright, who has been appointed to a new position for the resort. Peter is an experienced Sales and Marketing professional and has successfully overseen the commercial side of several luxury properties in Europe, the Middle East and more recently Asia, working for top flight hotel brands such as Ritz-Carlton, Savoy Group and InterContinental.

Uday Rao has been appointed as Resort Manager at Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan

Uday was born in India and his name means “sunrise,” honouring the fact that he was born at dawn. When he was 16, he immigrated to San Diego, California. After studying business management in the United States and Tokyo, Japan, he naturally gravitated to the world of hotels. As he explains, “my family is in the hotel business and I practically grew up in hotels.”

Taufik Junianto has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at Le Grande

Mr. Junianto, a 15 year veteran of the hospitality trade, has a wealth of experience as an organizer in the MICE field in Indonesia having worked for numerous international and local 5 star properties with his last position being Owner Representative of Pt. Melali, a private company dedicated to the organization of MICE events. Le Grande is the latest addition to the Absolute Hotel Services Hotel Management Company (AHS) management portfolio. Based in Bangkok, AHS will be re-branding Le Grande as U Agathis Pecatu Bali in the final quarter of 2012 where it will join the deluxe U Hotels & Resorts brand which is already active in Indonesia, Thailand, India and Vietnam. AHS also manages the 4 and 5 star Eastin Hotels & Residences and the mid-range Eastin Easy chain of properties throughout South East Asia, India and the Middle East.

Jamal Hussain has been appointed as General Manager at Banyan Tree Ungasan

Mr. Jamal Hussain is the new General Manager of Banyan Tree Ungasan, Bali, responsible for hotel operations and management along with maintaining close relations with the property’s owning company. Jamal was previously Banyan Tree’s Country Manager for Indonesia, lending his expertise and counsel to other hotels in the group’s Indonesia portfolio. Previous posts within the Banyan Tree family include Area General Manager for Laguna Bintan and Area General Manager, Maldives.

Murray L. Aitken has been appointed as General Manager at the Regent Bali

Luxury hospitality group Regent Hotels & Resorts has appointed Murray L. Aitken general manager of the Regent Bali, which is scheduled to open June 2012 in the Sanur District of Bali, Indonesia. A South African national, Aitken’s extensive hospitality experience includes appointments with Raffles and Swissotel in Southeast Asia, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts in Jakarta and the Caribbean, a luxurious beach resort in Dubai, Kerzner’s legendary Palace of the Lost City in Sun City, and Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town, South Africa. Most recently, he was general manager at Leading Hotels of the World’s Fancourt Hotel & Spa on South Africa’s Garden Route where he oversaw a $10 million renovation to the historic Manor House and launched it as an all-suite boutique hotel.

Ian McDonald Cameron has been appointed as General Manager at he Wuku Centara Bali and Centra Taum Seminyak Bali

Mr. Cameron, 49, of British nationality, has enjoyed a long career in the hospitality business, having trained at Scotland’s prestigious Gleneagles Hotel before moving to Asia, where he worked in Hong Kong and then in Indonesia. He was food and beverage manager at the Hilton Egypt before going to South Korea and then to Bangkok. He also spent several years as leaseholder and general manager of the Falcon Hotel, a traditional coaching inn style of hotel in Uppingham, England.
