No stranger to the nation's capital, TFE has welcomed Ben Saxton as Hotel General Manager at the flagship A by Adina Canberra. Ben has spent 12 years with TFE working across multiple brands and locations including Canberra, Adelaida, Sydney and Germany.Most recently, Ben has led the team at Adina Apartment Hotel Surry Hills, where he has consistently drove hotel performance, team engagement, and sought new business during challenging times. Ben also spearheaded the Adina's colourful property activation for World Pride 2023, earning the property public recognition and Ben an internal Stronger Together Award.
Joel Gordon's recent appointment as General Manager of QT Canberra signifies his reunion with parent company EVT. Gordon initially became part of the EVT family in 2008, beginning his journey at Rydges South Bank Brisbane. In 2013, wearing the hat of general manager, he successfully led the emerging brand, Atura Hotels & Resorts. More recently, he held the position of Regional General Manager for Crystalbrook Collection in Queensland.

Kristy joined AccorHotels in December 2010 on an AccorHotels cadetship and completed her degree of Bachelor of Business and Commerce (Hospitality Management) in 2012. After working in various Front Office roles at Pullman Sydney Olympic Park, Kristy then moved to Novotel Sydney Manly Pacific as Assistant Manager. In 2014, Kristy was accepted into the AccorHotels’ Executive Leadership Program in which she graduated from last year. In June 2016, Kristy was assigned her first General Manager position at ibis Budget Sydney Olympic Park where she has remained since.
Maurits De Graeff will be the General Manager of the new Mantra Macarthur Hotel, Canberra when it opens in late August 2017. Maurits joins Mantra Group after four years with Doma Group; successfully opening Hotel Realm and Hotel Burberry.

Nathan Frost has been appointed to the position of General Manager, Novotel Canberra. Nathan joined AccorHotels in 1998, working in the food and beverage department at the Mercure Hotel Sydney. Since graduating from AccorHotels’ National Management Trainee Program, he has held key operational roles in several hotels, including Sofitel Melbourne On Collins, Novotel Melbourne Glen Waverly and Novotel St Kilda. His most recent role was General Manager, Ibis Adelaide.
Tina has a strong marketing and sales background, with over 25 years’ experience in hotels, travel and membership organisations. In her last role as General Manager, Sales & Marketing at the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia, Tina was responsible for developing strategies for revenue growth, leadership positioning and member engagement. Tina is no stranger to the Crowne Plaza brand, as when working Africa’s leading hotel operator, Southern Sun Hotels, Tina oversaw a number of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG)-branded franchises, including Crowne Plaza.

American Hotel & Lodging Association Chair, Ron Vlasic, was in Australia recently to meet with his Australian counterparts, to talk at the Australian Tourism Directions Conference in Canberra, and to participate in Tourism Accommodation Australia's annual meetings Mr Vlasic, who was appointed as Chair of AH&LA last year, is also Regional Vice President of major American hotel group, Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants.
