Angela Faringhy has been named Marketing Manager at Cape Rey Carlsbad

New marketing manager, Angela Faringhy, is also a native San Diegan whose new role at Cape Rey brings her back to her SoCal roots. Faringhy grew up in Carlsbad, not far from the resort, and currently lives in North County. Angela received her BS in Business Administration from Sonoma State University. She brings nearly a decade of experience to the Cape Rey team, putting her double degree concentration in marketing and wine business strategies to good use as she develops and supports resort-wide marketing initiatives.

Rita Hornack has been named Food and Beverage Outlets Director at Cape Rey Carlsbad Beach

Rita Hornack, a San Diego native who brings more than 20 years of experience in food and beverage management, was named food and beverage outlets director. Previous to Cape Rey, Hornack held management positions at several hotels along the California coast -- from Hyatt Santa Barbara, to InterContinental in Los Angeles and even Hotel del Coronado. Excited to return home to San Diego, Hornack's role at Cape Rey includes managing the day-to-day operations for Chandler's Restaurant, Bar, and In-Room Dining.

Dustin Irwin has been appointed as Director of Golf Operations at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa

Dustin Irwin, a 25-year veteran of the golf industry with experience with some of the finest brands and destinations in golf, has joined Omni La Costa Resort & Spa as Director of Golf Operations. Irwin, 38, comes to Omni La Costa from Turnberry Isle in Miami, Fla., where he was Director of Golf and Membership since 2015. He will supervise all golf-related programs as well as the two 18-hole golf courses and golf staff. Irwin, a Class A member of the PGA of America, has a diverse background that encompasses senior leadership positions in golf operations, sales, marketing, training, golf course maintenance, golf course construction and facility openings. Irwin spent nearly 10 years with The Ritz-Carlton and Marriott Hotel Corporation, focusing on property openings and the development and implementation of service programs at private, resort and mixed-use facilities. He served on the opening teams at six Ritz-Carlton properties, both domestic and international, from 2000 – 2009, including two private golf clubs and four golf resorts. Two of the resorts earned AAA Five Diamond status in the first year of operation. He was a multiple award-winner with The Ritz-Carlton and finalist for 2012 “Troon Golf Sales Professional of The Year.” Irwin also has worked with PGA TOUR events, including Accenture World Match Play Championships 2009 – 2011 at Dove Mountain in Tucson, and Hyundai Tournament of Champions 2012 – 2013 in Kapalua. Jason Adams has been appointed as Executive Chef at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa

Omni La Costa Resort & Spa announced today the appointment of Jason Adams as the new executive chef, where he will oversee resort-wide culinary operations and programming. Adams has more than 20 years of culinary experience at top five-star luxury hotels and resorts across the United States and Caribbean, and is now bringing his expertise to the coastal foothills of Carlsbad, Calif. In his new position, Adams is spearheading the revival of Omni La Costa’s on-site beehives, which are an important resource for the Southern California resort. In support of the resort’s sustainability efforts, the beehives were originally cultivated to produce honey to be incorporated in everyday ingredients for guests including cocktails, condiments, appetizers and spa treatments. Adams is reinvigorating the beehives by cross-pollenating them with lavender, peppercorn and fennel, to infuse unique flavors into each strain. Adams is also working on a refresh of the banquet catering, creating completely new menus for the resort’s numerous indoor and outdoor events. Prior to joining Omni La Costa, Adams served as executive chef at Four Seasons Resort Nevis, West Indies, where he was named “Caribbean Hotel Chef of the Year 2015” by The Caribbean Journal and cultivated relationships with local purveyors and fisherman for executing sustainable farm-and-sea-to-table culinary operations, including a Dive & Dine program for guests. Adams also served as executive chef at The Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach, Fla., The St. Regis Aspen Resort, Aspen, Colo. and The Ritz-Carlton San Juan, Puerto Rico. Originally from England, Adams began his career in London at five-star hotels Hyatt Carlton Tower and Churchill Intercontinental. In addition to Ritz-Carlton hotels in Palm Beach, Fla., and San Juan, Puerto Rico, he has worked at Ritz-Carlton properties around the world including Grand Cayman, British West Indies; Boston, Mass.; Atlanta, Ga. and St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Adams now resides in Southern California with his wife and two sons.

Thomas Lee has been appointed as General Manager at Cape Rey Carlsbad, a Hilton Resort

Thomas Lee has been appointed general manager for Cape Rey Carlsbad, a Hilton Resort situated along San Diego's spectacular North County coastline. A seasoned hospitality professional and avid outdoor enthusiast- who even spent a few years playing on the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball circuit- Lee is perfectly suited to take the helm at the upscale coastal retreat steeped in local adventure and beach life. Lee most recently served as general manager of the Pacific Edge Hotel, a Joie de Vivre property in Laguna Beach, Calif. A native of Newport Beach and longtime veteran of the hospitality industry, Lee has held several senior-level positions within Davidson Hotels and Resorts working with properties within the Hyatt, Hilton, Starwood and Intercontinental portfolios. Prior to joining Davidson, Lee played a key role in high profile hospitality and entertainment projects in Los Angeles including the re-launch of the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and the Governor's Ball for the Academy Awards. Lee began his hospitality career at the Sofitel in Beverly Hills and the Bel Age Hotel on the famed Sunset Strip. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Lee holds a Master's Degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Travel Administration. He previously served on the board of Visit Laguna Beach. In his free time, you can find him running on the beach, hiking a nearby trail or spending time with his wife and two daughters.

Teri McIllwain has been appointed as Culinary Director at Cape Rey, Carlsbad

Teri McIllwain has been named culinary director at Cape Rey Carlsbad, a Hilton Resort. In her new role, McIllwain will leverage her diverse industry experience and passion for locally sourced, healthy cuisine to develop fresh menus, social offerings and group activities both at the resort's ocean view Chandler's restaurant and through the catering and room service divisions. McIllwain's fresh approach in Chandler's includes creating new seasonal, coastal-inspired menus that are centered on premium ingredients sourced from local and sustainable farms. Menus also feature weekly dishes inspired by the best ingredients from nearby farmer's markets. To help her in the quest, McIllwain has recruited Matt Geremia, formerly a chef at the popular Solana Beach eatery Crush, to step into the role of senior sous chef and her second in command.

Rob Stirling has joined Cape Rey, Carlsbad as Director of Sales and Marketing

Rob Stirling has been appointed director of sales and marketing at Cape Rey Carlsbad, a Hilton Resort. In his new role, Stirling will oversee sales, marketing, catering and conference services activities, focusing on the resort's newfound direction following the recent rebrand of this modern Craftsman-style 215-room property situated along San Diego's North County coastline. Strengthening the property's group sales efforts and initiatives will be among Stirling's top priorities as he takes the reins.

Clifton Carmody has been appointed as Director of Food & Beverage at Cape Rey Carlsbad, a Hilton Resort

The newly rebranded Cape Rey Carlsbad, a Hilton Resort, has hired Clifton Carmody as director of food and beverage operations. A 20-year industry veteran who has worked with numerous trend-setting dining venues, Carmody will refine the culinary and entertainment offerings under the new Cape Rey brand and help position the hotel's ocean view restaurant, Chandler's, as a hip, coastal-inspired gathering spot that is a destination for culinary adventures in North San Diego. Carmody's expertise is a product of a lengthy career working for forward-thinking companies like Eat.Sleep.Drink, the lifestyle company behind stylish, sought after venues in California such as Tower 23 Hotel in Pacific Beach, Padre Hotel in Bakersfield and the emerging LakeHouse Hotel and Resort in San Marcos. Kerri Migneault has been appointed as Spa Director at Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa

Mary Ahlstrom has been named Director of Sales at Hilton Carlsbad Oceanfront Resort & Spa

Mary Ahlstrom has been named opening Director of Sales at Hilton Carlsbad Oceanfront Resort & Spa. Currently under construction, the resort is situated along the California coast across from Carlsbad State Beach and is scheduled to open in the summer of 2012. Ahlstrom most recently served as Director of Sales at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe in San Diego, Calif. Under Ahlstrom's leadership, the sales team at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe tripled group revenue in her first year at the property. Prior to that, she was a national sales manager at L'Auberge Del Mar Resort and Spa, Calif. and was consistently ranked in the top two for highest sales each year. Ahlstrom began her career in 1992 as a sales manager at the Hilton Valley Forge in Philadelphia, PA. She spent eight years at the property rising to the rank of Director of Sales and Marketing.
