Sam Lucas has been promoted to General Manager at Holiday Inn Charlotte University Place

The Holiday Inn Charlotte University Place, located just north of Center City and right on I-85, is pleased to announce the promotion of Sam Lucas to General Manager of the Property, effective immediately.Sam began his career in hospitality during college, where he obtained an internship with the Walt Disney World College Program. During his internship, Sam studied Disney’s culture and worked full time at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Resort, where he learned the importance of going above and beyond for every guest. After completing his internship, Sam earned a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Chippewa Valley Technical College.

Jami Horton Hill has been promoted to Director of Sales & Marketing at Holiday Inn® Charlotte Center City

Jami graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a degree in Public Relations. Prior to entering the hospitality industry, she held positions in industries such as marketing, event management, sponsorship procurement and restaurant management. Before moving into the Director of Sales and Marketing position, Jami gained experience working in a variety of roles at the Holiday Inn Charlotte Center City, including positions in Catering and Business Travel Sales.

Jana Powers has been appointed as Spa Director at The Ballantyne, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Charlotte

With 19 years of experience in spa, wellness and hospitalityoperations management, Powers has a strong skillset in employee development, revenue generation andcreation of spa menus and wellness programs. As spa director, Powers will oversee and manage all facetsof spa operations, as well as continually work to develop and enhance the overall guest experience at TheSpa at Ballantyne.

Randy Rushakoff has been appointed as General Manager at Midas Hospitality North Carolina

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants Announces Plans for Two New Hotels in Charlotte, North Carolina

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants announced today it will continue its Southern expansion for the brand with the addition of two new hotels in the Charlotte, North Carolina area – one in the heart of the city's downtown and other in the historic neighborhood of Dilworth. Both are slated to open in 2017. As a historically underserved hotel market, Charlotte in particular offers Kimpton the ability to draw on longstanding strengths within urban metro markets while also showcasing its continued expansion into distinctive neighborhoods beyond the city center.

Paul Papadopulos has been appointed as General Manager at Renaissance Charlotte Suites Hotel

Papadopulos has a proven track record as a leader in sales and marketing management and relationship development. He joined JQH in 2007, most recently serving as corporate director of group sales strategy for the company’s national portfolio. He has also served as JQH’s corporate director of national accounts and as a regional director of sales. His experience ranges from focused service and extended stay to luxury class hotels in North America.

Peter Grills has been promoted to General Manager at The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge, a Luxury Collection Hotel

Prior to being named general manager, Grills served as hotel manager at The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge. In this position, he was responsible for all room and food and beverage operations, including guest reception, housekeeping, Gallery Restaurant, as well as the other culinary outlets, including kitchen, banquets and in-room dining. He joined The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge as director of food & beverage.

Charlie Kingston has been appointed as General Manager at the Omni Charlotte Hotel

Kingston brings with him more than 15 years of hospitality industry experience, most recently as the Director of Food & Beverage for the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate. At the property he oversaw seven food and beverage outlets and 70,000 square feet of meeting space. His background also includes positions at Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin and the Peabody Hotel in Orlando, Fla. Kingston earned a Bachelor of Arts from St. Michael’s College in Winooski, Vt. He is a Certified Sommelier by the Court of Master Sommeliers and has a Six Sigma Green Belt Certification. He was awarded the Ideal Director of Operations in 2009 by the luxury hotel brand for his achievements at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate.

Adriaan Radder has been appointed as General Manager at The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge

Radder has a wealth of experience working for global luxury brands including Marriott and Ritz-Carlton. Radder will oversee operations of The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge, which is part of Starwood’s The Luxury Collection brand; he will start on May 10. Most recently, Radder was Senior Vice President with Kerzner International and General Manager of One&Only Ocean Club, a top tier resort in the Bahamas. Prior to joining One&Only Ocean Club, Radder served as Vice President and Area General Manager for The Ritz-Carlton Hotels of Washington D.C. In this role, he oversaw four properties and achieved significant improvements in profitability as well as guest and employee satisfaction ratings. Before that, Radder worked as General Manager of The Ritz Carlton, Pentagon City. Under Radder’s leadership, the hotel became one of the brand’s top performing hotels. Radder also worked for Marriott International where he held General Manager positions at several properties, including The Jeddah Marriott Hotel, Saudi Arabia, The Amsterdam Marriott Hotel, The Netherlands and The Tyson’s Corner Marriott, Vienna, VA. Radder is a recipient of Marriott’s “General Manager of the Year” Award, both at the franchise and international levels. In addition, Radder was honored twice with Marriott’s Outstanding Owner Relations Awards. Originally from Holland, Radder studied at the Hogere Hotel School in Maastricht, The Netherlands before relocating to the United States where he earned both his Bachelor’s and Master's degrees in International Hospitality Management from Florida International University.
