Niccolo Chongqing officially opened its doors today crowning the top 10 floors of the new 62 floor Chongqing IFS Tower 1, overlooking the Southwestern city of China. A very strategic and important hotel for Hong Kong-based hospitality company, Wharf Hotels Management Limited, Niccolo Chongqing celebrated its opening with a symbolic, congratulatory ribboncutting ceremony for dignitaries and officials. Born and raised in Switzerland, Roger Marcz brings nearly 40 years of international luxury hotel management experience in famous hotel brands including Jumeirah, Mandarin Oriental, The Ritz-Carlton and most recently Wanda Hotels & Resorts. Mr. Marcz speaks in German, and is fluent in English, French and some Cantonese.
Marco Polo Hotels has announced the appointment of Mr. Dany Lützel as General Manager of Niccolo Chongqing, the second Niccolo hotel of this luxury brand stable, following the Niccolo Chengdu success story. The hotel is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2017. Prior to Niccolo, Dany was General Manager at Kempinski Chongqing, where he began as Resident Manager in 2014 and quickly moved up to the top role early last year. Previously, he was also General Manager of Radisson Blu, St. Gallen in Switzerland, a property where Dany spent over six years. With experience in both Europe as well as China, Dany possesses the knowledge to drive revenues from both the domestic and international markets while maintaining a high service level consistent with Niccolo’s contemporary urban chic personality. His ability to effectively manage six food and beverage outlets, in addition to multiple events and wedding venues at his previous position will only enforce his expectancy for profitable business in all facets of the hotel.
Rosewood Hotels & Resorts® has been appointed by property developer C C Land to manage Rosewood Chongqing when it opens in 2015. The 361-room ultra-luxury hotel is the fifth Asia Rosewood hotel announced, in addition to Rosewood Beijing (opening early 2014), Rosewood Phuket (2015), Rosewood Tanah Lot Bali (2017) and Rosewood Jakarta (2017.) Located on the banks of the Yangtze River, the historic city of Chongqing furthers Rosewood's strategic expansion as it is not only the commercial centre and transportation hub for Southwest China, but the world's second most populous city. Rosewood Chongqing will be conveniently located in a mixed-use development comprising residences, retail and office space in Yubei District, a tourism destination renowned for its abundant natural scenery and attractions including Bijin Park, Jindaoxia scenic area and Bayu Folk Culture Village. The design of guestrooms, suites and public areas by California-based Remedios Studio, and the three restaurants and bars by Tokyo-based Spin Design Studio, will incorporate Rosewood's A Sense of Place® philosophy, reflecting and celebrating the location's culture, history and geography. The concept will in fact be extended into every facet of the property. The 34-storey property will feature a soaring atrium-like reception area, 331 guestrooms and 30 suites designed in residential style and a 31st-floor Manor Club executive lounge with outdoor terrace. In addition to a lobby lounge, dining options will include an all-day bistro, a two-floor Chinese restaurant, and a Japanese restaurant and a rooftop bar on the hotel's top three floors. The bistro, with expansive, landscaped outdoor terrace, will feature live cooking stations with an array of cuisines. The Chinese restaurant will offer a total of 19 private luxury dining rooms. The multi-concept Japanese restaurant will recreate Tokyo's finest culinary offerings with show kitchens serving a wide range of classic Japanese dishes. The hotel's two-storey, resort-like rooftop bar will offer cabanas, a VIP terrace lounge, a two-floor waterfall and outdoor fireplaces, all appearing to float on water. Sense® spa, Rosewood's signature spa brand offering treatments reflecting the local culture and environment, will feature six treatment rooms, foot massage and manicure/pedicure lounges and jacuzzis. Other recreational facilities will include a gym and glass-roofed indoor swimming pool. Meeting space will include a 17,222-square-foot (1,600-square-meter) pillar-free ballroom accommodating up to 1,000 guests; a 5,673-square-foot (527-square-meter) junior ballroom with capacity for 350 persons; two meeting rooms; a VIP room and bridal room. The Pavilion, Rosewood's residential-style meeting concept, will offer a show kitchen and four function and meeting rooms with retractable walls for flexible configurations, two separate function rooms, a breakout lounge and the Events Gallery – a private space for event planners to customize their events. Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Asia Pacific's leading luxury hotel group, recently signed an agreement with Chongqing Guest House Co. Ltd. to manage a hotel in Chongqing that is scheduled to open in late 2011. The 469-room Shangri-La hotel will occupy the first 28 floors of a new 58-storey landmark building, a multi-purpose complex incorporating office space and innovative retail outlets.
Prior to Hilton Chongqing, Sebastian was the Director of Food & Beverage at Radisson Hotel Shanghai Hong Quan. With a notable twelve-year experience in the F&B industry, Sebastian was also instrumental in being heavily involved as an executive team member at three hotel openings and two re-brandings. A German national, Sebastian started his culinary career as an apprentice chef at Treff Hotel Residenzschloss, Germany. Since then, he has worked in some of the finest hotels who are members of The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd in Germany, Egypt, and China. He first arrived in China in 2004, and worked as an Assistant F&B Manager at Kempinski Hotel Shenyang. He was also a key member of the pre-opening management team of the hotel.
