Gateway Canyons Resort & Spa, a destination in Gateway, Colo., appointed Tim Johnson as GM and Mark Shine as director of sales and marketing for the resort. Johnson and Shine have more than a decade of hospitality experience and have held various prestigious management positions in the hotel industry.
Hartwell began his restaurant career as a prep cook and busboy at the Stage Door Restaurant outside Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor, Michigan. After holding several positions at various restaurants in his home state of Michigan, he moved to Santa Rosa, California to join the team at Restaurant Matisse, a French-inspired California cuisine restaurant under the guidance of Chef Michael Hirschberg. From Restaurant Matisse, he landed a coveted internship at Michelin-starred Land Hoff in Solingen, Germany.

Prior to joining the Gateway team, Clemente served as the Banquet Manager and Food and Beverage Manager at The Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel for six years, where he was accountable for leading the banquet department with revenues of more than $20 million, 80,000 square feet of event space and developing creative packages to enhance guests’ experiences. Clemente’s growth escalated in banquet managing roles at The Claremont Resort and Spa and Campton Place Hotel, leading him to his most recent position as Director of Banquets for the St. Regis Hotel and Residences in Atlanta, overseeing the $7.5 million banquet operations for the AAA Five Diamond hotel and increasing the efficiency and success of the weddings, galas and event department.

In this role, Sawyer fostered new accounts, created and implemented quarterly sales and marketing plans in addition to negotiating sales contracts. Previously, Sawyer served as Director of Sales and Marketing for Le Meridian Dallas North, where he garnered new business while building upon existing client relationships. Sawyer’s meticulous sales experience also comes from his time with other hospitality clients, including: Fountainebleau Hilton Resort & Spa, The Breakers Palm Beach, Magnolia Hotel in Dallas, InterContinental Dallas Hotel and Galactic, Ltd.
With an established history of achieving dramatic, record-breaking revenue increases through the execution of targeted, creative and well-planned sales strategies, Cornell joins the Gateway team most recently from Magnolia Hotels, where she served as the Senior Sales Manager. In this role, Cornell successfully solidified more than 30 new accounts for corporate travel, maintained client relationships and was responsible for all incentive and entertainment travel within the Denver market. Previously, Cornell served as Catering Manager for Hotel Jerome, where she garnered new business while building upon existing client relationships.

With an established history of achieving dramatic, record-breaking revenue increases through the execution of targeted, creative and well-planned sales strategies, Dombroski joins the Gateway team most recently from MetWest Terra Hospitality, where he served as the Director of Sales at the Topnotch Resort and Spa. In this role, Dombroski successfully led his team to increase room revenues by 10 percent each year while accomplishing a 20 percent improvement in both group and transient booking pace for the resort. Previously, Dombroski served as the Senior Sales Manager of the MetWest Terra’s Jackson Hole Collection, strengthening his leadership skills while continuing to exceed sales quotas.

Boasting more than 20 years of experience in resort operations and management, with a background in integrated marketing for a wide range of products and services, Stone most recently held the position of Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. Previously, Stone held the position of Senior Vice President for Telluride Ski & Golf Resort, where he was responsible for all commercial operations. Stone entered the hospitality field as Vice President of Durango Ski Corporation in Durango, Colorado, followed by a position as Director of Sales & Marketing for Sheraton Tamarron Resort, also located in Durango, then held a similar position at The Peaks Resort & Golden Door Spa in Telluride, Colorado.
