After opening new hostels in Brighton (August 2024), Antwerp (October 2024), and Brussels (December 2024), a&o Hostels, Europe's largest hostel chain, is expanding further with the acquisition of a&o Heidelberg. This marks its 43rd property in Europe and 26th in Germany. The company operates 42 properties across ten countries, with 19 owned directly by a&o.

Daniel Kosin, who manages the IntercityHotel Augsburg, will also take over as Pre-Opening General Manager for the IntercityHotel Heidelberg in December 2022. The Hotel is expected to open in June 2023.
Ahead of this year's International Hotel Investment Conference (IHIF), Hilton (NYSE: HLT) has signed a franchise agreement to open Hilton Heidelberg, a 244-room upscale hotel in Heidelberg's city centre. The property will undergo a major refurbishment before welcoming guests in Summer 2022. The hotel is owned by Invesco Real Estate, the global real estate investment manager which acquired the property in 2017.
On February 10th 2014 the Holiday Inn Express Heidelberg City Centre opened its doors to the public, one and a half years after the ground breaking in 2012. The construction work is now complete and the four storey hotel with its 152 modern rooms welcomes its first guests. With the opening of the Holiday Inn Express (HIEX) Heidelberg City Centre, Foremost Hospitality has opened its eighth hotel in Germany. Foremost is planning 20 hotels by 2016.
