Courtyard by Marriott Hotel Opens on Hilton Head Island

Courtyard by Marriott Hilton Head Island opened its doors recently. Featuring an innovative lobby space as well as Courtyard's latest contemporary room design, the new hotel provides flexibility and choices that allow guests to optimize and elevate their travel experience. Located at 79 Pope Avenue, the 115-room hotel will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned by Southeastern Real Estate Group and managed by LBA Hospitality of Dothan, Alabama.

Peter Conboy has been named Director of Finance at Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island

In his new position, Conboy is responsible for directing th e financial operations of the AAA Four Diamond-rated resort, which includes overseeing the resort's accounting staff; managing receivables, payables, and payroll; negotiating contracts; and preparing financial statements and analyses of hotel operations.Conboy joins the 11-acre resort from Wild Dunes Resort near Charleston, South Carolina, where he served as the Director of Finance for nearly four years. His extensive hospitality industry accounting and finance experience also includes serving for 13 years as Controller and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Cranwell Resort, Spa & Golf Club in Lenox, Massachusetts; Director of Finance & Accounting for Chateau Élan Winery & Resort in Braselton, Georgia for eight years; and Controller at Columbia Marriott Hotel in Columbia, South Carolina. He received his Accounting education from Pace University in New York City, and a Bachelor of Science from the School of Hospitality Management from Florida International Univer sity in Miami, Florida.

Lindsay Wooten has been appointed as Conference Services Manager at Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island

The AAA Four Diamond-rated Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island has expanded its sales and catering team with the addition of Lindsay Wooten as Conference Services Manager. Nestled along the coast of South Carolina's scenic Hilton Head Island, the lushly landscaped beachfront resort provides beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean, access to miles of pristine white-sand beach, an array of on-site amenities, 23,000 square feet of flexible function space for up to 1,100 guests, and picturesque outdoor venu es. In her new position, Wooten is responsible for coordinating meetings, conventions and events at the 11-acre, award-winning resort. Prior to joining Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island, she was Catering Sales Manager at The Ridge Hotel in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Wooten's extensive experience also includes serving as Director of Catering at Miramonte Indian Wells Resort & Spa in Indian Wells, California; Catering and Conference Services Manager at Vail Cascade Resort & Spa in Vail, Colorado; and Event Sales Manager at Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa in Jacksonville, Florida. In addition, she spent two years in Thailand as a fifth grade teacher at a government school in the English program. She is a graduate of the University of Central Florida, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Management, with a concentration in Event Management.

Charles Pejeau has been appointed as Executive Chef at Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island

Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island announced today the addition of Charles Pejeau as the new executive chef at the luxury beach resort. Pejeau will oversee all guest experiences at the resort’s four dining venues, placing particular emphasis on Sonesta’s ‘Food is Art’ and ‘Liquid is Art’ philosophies, which treat each meal or signature beverage as a detailed masterpiece for the senses.

Michael Reich has been appointed as Director of Group Sales at The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa

Prior to joining The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa, Reich was the regional director of sales and marketing for The Westin Baltimore Washington Airport and Sheraton Baltimore Washington Airport Hotel. Reich has also held the roles of regional director of sales and marketing for a number of prominent hotel brands including Interstate Hotels, Intercontinental Hotels and Wyndham Hotels. He began his career with Marriott, growing to become Director of Sales and Marketing. Originally from Orlando, FL, he graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Hospitality Management.

Tom Neely has been appointed as General Manager at The Beach House, a Holiday Inn Resort

Neely brings more than 25 years of hospitality experience to The Beach House, having spent the last seven years as Resort Manager at the Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg, Va., where he directed day-to-day operations for the 405-room lodge, as well as the waterpark, conference center, spa, restaurants and retail space. Prior to his time at Great Wolf Lodge, Neely was Director of Operations for HMP Properties, where he managed five properties across multiple brands, and was General Manager of the Country Inn and Suites in Annapolis, Md. before that. Neely earned his degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management from Penn State University. Formerly the Holiday Inn Oceanfront, The Beach House, a Holiday Inn Resort –Hilton Head Island finalized a complete transformation in March of 2012, including the guestrooms , the addition of a sophisticated oceanfront lounge, updated restaurant and new decking for the Tiki Hut. Nearly 5,000 square feet of meeting space, including the second-floor Sky Room with its spectacular ocean views, were also renovated to reflect the coastal surroundings and better accommodate groups.

Jay Wiendl has been appointed as General Manager at Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island

Jay Wiendl was named General Manager at the Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island today. In this role, he oversees all operations of the 340 room resort and leads the executive committee, which plans and guides all present and future hotel initiatives. Jay joined Sonesta in January 2011. Prior to accepting this position, he was Director of Hotel Operations at the Royal Sonesta Hotel New Orleans. Before joining Sonesta, Jay was resort manager for the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, and held positions including general manager, operations manager and F&B director in hotels in Florida and Illinois with Marriott and Crowne Plaza.
