The chief operating officer at Malmaison has stepped up to take on the same role with Hotel du Vin, following the departure of Nick Halliday earlier this month. Scott Harper will now become COO across both brands, reporting to Guus Bakker, CEO of Malmaison Hotel du Vin and CEO EMEA of parent company Frasers Hospitality UK. Halliday left this month after four years with HdV, departing to pursue new ventures. Harper has worked with Malmaison as chief operating officer since 2012 and has a solid understanding of how both brands operate.

Staybridge Suites Liverpool, owned by Cycas Hospitality, has been refreshed and revitalised after a £1million makeover. The hotel, ideally located just 200 metres from the lively Albert Dock in Liverpool, has received a full upgrade to all its suites, as well as the public areas and the exterior of the hotel.
Staycity is to open 202 studio, one- and two-bed apartments in Liverpool's famous Corn Exchange building, creating up to 40 full and part-time jobs. The building is expected to open towards the end of 2017. The fast-expanding serviced apartment operator, with headquarters in Dublin, has signed a long-term lease on the former offices. A contractor for the project has yet to be appointed. The Corn Exchange lies in the heart of the Liverpool's commercial region close to James Street Merseyrail Station, the retail and leisure development Liverpool One, Albert Dock and the new BT Convention centre.
