Jorge Villarreal has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at The Cape, a Thompson Hotel

A protégé of the late visionary hotelier Edward Steiner, Director of Sales and Marketing Jorge Villarreal helped redefine the concept of luxury accommodations in the Los Cabos market through his work at the Presidente Inter-Continental, as well as the One&Only Palmilla. Villarreal was the opening director of sales and marketing for Mexico and Latin America at the One&Only Palmilla, where he served from 2000 through 2010. A graduate of hotel management from the Universidad Iberoamericana, with a supervised program from Cornell, Villarreal has also held the director of sales and marketing role at Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach Cancun and was the corporate director of sales and marketing at the Villa La Estancia Riviera Nayarit in Nuevo Vallarta and Villa La Estancia Los Cabos Resort & Spa, providing him with an overview of the greater Mexican hospitality market. Villarreal returned to Los Cabos in 2015 and now serves as an integral part of the executive team at The Cape.

John Volponi has been appointed as General Manager at VieVage Los Cabos

Auberge Resorts Collection, owner and operator of boutique luxury hotels, resorts, residences and private clubs, announced today that John Volponi has been appointed General Manager of VieVage Los Cabos. This intimate resort located on the best beachfront stretch in Los Cabos will open in summer 2016 as the first property under Auberge’s new VieVage Hotels and Resorts lifestyle brand. Volponi brings vast experience in Los Cabos to this integral new role, having previously served as general manager of Capella Pedregal Resort, Cabo San Lucas. In his new position at VieVage Los Cabos, Volponi will oversee the management and operations of the new boutique luxury resort nestled within the 1,200-acre Chileno Bay master development, which is poised to bring a vibrant, new resort experience to Los Cabos.

Raul Petraglia has been appointed as General Manager at ME Cabo

Prior to his new role as General Manager at ME Cabo, Petraglia served as the General Manager of ME Cancun, where he was instrumental in creating and executing another successful conversion when the property evolved into a unique lifestyle all-inclusive “Complete ME” concept designed to engage and inspire on a personal level. As part his new transition, Petraglia will be overseeing the rebirth of ME Cabo focusing on the brand’s commitment to experience-based culture cultivated through art, design and music. ME Cabo is expected to reopen in the winter following the damage from Hurricane Odile.

Francisco J. Silva has been appointed as General Manager at Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos

Alex Stadlin, Chief Executive Officer, Playa Resorts Management, announced today the appointment of Francisco J. Silva as General Manager for the Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos. Mr. Silva joins Playa from Villa del Arco Resort & Spa in Los Cabos. The new resort is located beachfront on the spectacular Sea of Cortes in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, and is a premier Hyatt-branded, all-inclusive resort. Mr. Silva succeeds Hernan Vanegas as General Manager at the Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos. Mr. Vanegas, who has been with Playa Resorts in various capacities since its inception, has accepted the position of Vice President of Asset Management in Mexico for Playa Resorts Management and will be headquartered at Playa's office in Cancun.

Maxime Cormier has been appointed as Spa Director at Las Ventanas al Paraíso, A Rosewood Resort

Peter Bowling has been appointed as Managing Director at One&Only Palmilla

Kerzner International is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Bowling as Managing Director for One&Only Palmilla in Los Cabos, Mexico. In his new role, Bowling will be responsible for the overall operations of the iconic resort, renowned for its intuitive service and old-world elegance. Prior to this appointment, Bowling served as General Manager of Capella Pedregal in Cabo San Lucas, where he opened the property in 2009. As Managing Director of One&Only Palmilla, Bowling will report directly to George Markantonis, President and Managing Director of Kerzner International. With over 26-years of experience in the luxury hospitality industry, Bowling began his career in England at the acclaimed Lainston House and Eastwell Manor before holding a position at Chilston Park Country House. After relocating from England in 1986, Bowling went on to manage some of the Caribbean’s most celebrated resorts including The Royal Pavilion in Barbados and the Cotton House Hotel in Mustique. Bowling also developed Villa Nova, Barbados’ first boutique style hotel, and was Managing Director of the renowned Jumby Bay in Antigua, where he spearheaded an extensive renovation to the private 300-acre island, part of the Rosewood Hotels & Resorts group.

Martein van Wagenberg has been named Managing Director at Las Ventanas al Paraíso, A Rosewood Resort

Mr. van Wagenberg, who comes to Las Ventanas with more than 26 years of hospitality experience, has been part of the Rosewood family since October 2004 as managing director of Rosewood Little Dix Bay in Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands. Prior to Little Dix, for eight years he was general manager of Grace Bay Club in Providenciales, Turks & Caicos, where he developed the young property into an internationally recognized Five-Star resort. He began his career in Europe, holding management positions of increasing responsibility at The Hyatt in Nice, France, The Grosvenor House and Hyde Park Hotel in London and The Grand Hotel in Amsterdam. He was educated at the Hotel Management School in Maastricht, Netherlands and the premier U.S. hotelier program at Cornell University in New York.

Tim Booth has been appointed as General Manager at Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort

A 20-year Hilton Worldwide veteran, Booth began his hospitality career in food and beverage and catering in the New Orleans area. He joined the Hilton New Orleans Airport Hotel and Conference Center in 1991, rapidly moving upstream filling roles such as food and beverage director, front office director and assistant general manager. Advancing successfully in management, Booth held general manager and hotel manager positions at the Hilton Suites Brentwood, Hilton Chicago, Doubletree Hotel and Executive Meeting Center Somerset and Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf and Tennis Resort before taking the helm at Buffalo Thunder in Santa Fe to open New Mexico’s largest resort property and Hilton’s first Native American management agreement with the Pueblo of Pojoaque.

Oscar Avalos has been appointed as Director of Sales & Marketing at the Marquis Los Cabos Resort

Oscar Avalos has been named Director of Sales & Marketing of Marquis Los Cabos, the 237 all-suite beachfront Leading Hotel of the World located on the southernmost tip of the Baja California peninsula. He brings to his new position more than 18 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Prior to joining Marquis Los Cabos, Avalos worked extensively with Fairmont Hotels throughout Mexico. Most recently as Acting Director of Sales & Marketing for The Fairmont Acapulco Princess & The Fairmont Pierre Marques, he was in charge of all international and domestic group business as well as leisure sales and marketing. He also received valuable experience at The American Academy of Hospitality Sciences’ International Star Diamond Award recipient Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Resort.

Daniel Scott has been named Resort Manager at Las Ventanas al Paraíso, A Rosewood Resort

Mr. Scott has been part of the Rosewood family since 2003. Most recently, he was a member of the pre-opening team of Rosewood Sand Hill in Menlo Park, California, where he served as Rooms Division Director. Prior to Rosewood Sand Hill, he assisted with the openings of the Rosewood Corniche in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and Jumby Bay, A Rosewood Resort in Antigua; provided management assistance at the Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and CordeValle, A Rosewood Resort, San Martin, California; served as Rosewood’s liaison in Costa Rica; and was a sales manager at Rosewood Crescent Hotel in Dallas. Las Ventanas has been among the world’s most heralded resorts for the past 14 years. It brought, for the first time, the highest international standards of luxury and service to Los Cabos and played a lead role in elevating it to Mexico’s most upscale destination.

Esmeralda Silva has been appointed as Director of Romance at Las Ventanas (a Rosewood Resort)

The native of Mexico City has more than 10 years of hospitality sales and marketing experience including the past seven years with the W Hotel, Mexico City, most recently as the Marketing and Banquet Sales Manager. Silva has a Bachelors Degree in International Relations and a Masters Degree in Management of Nongovernmental Organizations from the Universidad De Las Américas, Mexico City. Silva has not wasted any time putting her imprimatur on her role as Cupid by introducing one of the most romantic experiences ever offered by the Five Diamond resort. Agathoclis “Akis” Neocleous has been appointed as Resort Manager at Las Ventanas al Paraíso, A Rosewood Resort

Mr. Neocleous comes to Las Ventanas with 15 years of luxury resort experience and notably specific expertise in Mexico. Most recently, he was general manager of Misión La Serena Resort in Los Cabos. Previously, he served as general manager of El Careyes Beach Resort in Puerto Vallarta; hotel director of the Hotel Gran Bahia Principe Tulum; and resident manager of the Grand Bay Hotel in Isla de Navidad.
