CETT Barcelona School of Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy wins European Mise en Place Cup 2024

The 16th edition of the European Mise en Place Cup (EMCup) took place on Sunday 4 and Monday 5 February in Maastricht. The theme of this edition was "When artificial intelligence meets human intelligence - The rise of a new generation". The winner of the EMCup 2024 is CETT Barcelona school of tourism, hospitality and gastronomy from Spain, followed by HIM Hotel Institute Montreux from Switzerland and Hotel Management School Maastricht, the Netherlands. These top 3 competed against 23 other European hotel schools for two exciting days. During this competition, a total of 115 students gave everything to win that coveted 1st place and show their ideas about 'AI meets human intelligence'.

Desiree Dils has joined Kruisherenhotel Maastricht, Oostwegel Collection as General Manager

On 1 April 2021 Desiree Dils will take up her position as General Manager of Kruisherenhotel Maastricht. She has been working for almost three years as Director of Food & Beverage at the five-star Hotel De L'Europe in Amsterdam. Over the past twenty years, Desiree has held various international positions, including in London and China and primarily in the luxury hotel sector.

Nicole Willems has been appointed as General Manager at Designhotel Maastricht

Nicole Willems will start as General Manager at Designhotel Maastricht on 1 February. The hotel, located in the special district "Wyck", with its 105 unique rooms, is the ideal base for visiting historic Maastricht. Nicole Willems was born and raised in Maastricht and has developed as a true hospitality expert during her career. In her previous position as Regional Director Revenue Management at NH Hotel Group, Willems was responsible for the 'Revenue Management' department for 20 hotels across the Netherlands and Germany.

Jill Dassen has been appointed as Sales & Marketing Manager at Hospitality Net

Jill has been appointed Content Marketing Manager at Hsyndicate Hospitality Net. After graduating from Hotel Management School Maastricht in 2013 Jill started working as Meeting & Events Sales Coordinator at Radisson Blu Hotel Amsterdam. In 2014 she was approached for the position of Banquet Sales Supervisor at Room Mate Aitana. In 2016 a position as Meeting & Events Coordinator at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Hasselt came available and she decided to go back to the company where it all started for her. Even though Jill really enjoyed working within hotels she decided to step outside her comfort zone and start a new chapter in her career. The position as content marketing manager is completely new to her but the hospitality industry is something she is very familiar with, it is something that runs through her blood!

easyHotel Maastricht City opening doors on July 3rd

In a former office building at Het Bat in Maastricht, the newest easyHotel: Maastricht City Center is being finalized. As the name suggests, the hotel is located in the heart of Maastricht. The hotel has 74 functionally furnished rooms with private bathrooms, excellent mattresses, air conditioning, TV and high-speed Wi-Fi. Sights such as the Vrijthof, the Sint Servaas bridge, the Markt and the Onze Lieve Vrouweplein are only a few hundred meters away. Most rooms have a beautiful view over the city or the Maas. The brand new hotel opens on 3 July, just before Andre Rieu starts his series of concerts at the Vrijthof. For master franchise holder Xcentric Hotels B.V. this is the eighth hotel opening.

Kim Willems has been appointed as Manager Global Accounts at HelmsBriscoe

HelmsBriscoe, the global leader in independent site selection and RFP services for the expanding meeting business, announced the appointment of Kim Willems to the position of Manager Global Accounts. As Manager Global Accounts, Kim’s responsibilities include developing client relations in the Meuse-Rhine EU region, while being based in Maastricht, the Netherlands. Kim’s last position was with IBM as project leader Event Management and Travel Services. He has over 8 years of experience in the MICE industry working both in the Netherlands as well as further afield. This has given him a deep understanding of the diversity of cultures between countries and regions in the market. His earlier experiences as a developer and organizer of different events makes him able to translate a client’s needs into a successful cooperation.
