(NYSE:HOT) announced plans to introduce its two largest brands – Westin and Sheraton – to two new multi-billion dollar integrated entertainment complexes in Manila, the bustling capital of the Philippines. Before that he held various human resources and training roles with Hard Rock Hotel Bali, Indonesia, Banyan Tree Resort, Seychelles and Le Meridian Hotel, Singapore.

She has been promoted to be General Manager of The Peninsula Manila, a role which she will assume from April 2011, taking over from Mr. Jonathan Crook. Xin Tian TI Development Corporation (XTT) and Marco Polo Hotels (MPH) held a groundbreaking ceremony today for the construction of the 313-room Marco Polo Ortigas hotel in Manila, Philippines. Construction is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2014, with the grand opening of the hotel to occur soon after.
The 347-room Holiday Inn & Suites Makati will be the first purpose-built Holiday Inn property in the Philippines. The hotel will be built on top of a redeveloped Glorietta Mall in Ayala Center in Makati City, a major commercial and economic hub and home to headquarters and offices of many international companies.
Former General Manager of Sofitel Brisbane Central, Mr. Goran Aleksandrovski (who recently changed his name to Goran Aleks) has assumed the position of General Manager of Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, the 609-room iconic hotel billed as a resort-sanctuary in the city. Having spent more than 15 years in the hospitality industry, German-born Aleks had held significant postings in Europe and Asia Pacific. His association with the Accor group began in 1994 and throughout his career he has occupied various senior positions in Munich, Koblenz and Berlin in Germany. He spent one year as the General Manager of Sofitel Project in Paris and subsequently was tasked to position the Sofitel brand in Australia. Aleks managed for four years the Sofitel Gold Coast and most recently the Sofitel Brisbane Central before he moved to the Philippines.
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced that Helmut Gaisberger will retire after 14 years as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Manila, effective 1 September 2009. Mr Gaisberger enjoyed a successful senior management career in the hospitality industry for more than four decades. In his 14 years with Mandarin Oriental, he was instrumental in maintaining Mandarin Oriental, Manila as one of the city’s best hotels, which has regularly achieved awards, including five consecutive years as “Best Business Hotel in the Philippines” by Business Asia.
In 2000, Mr. Crook joined The Peninsula New York as Assistant Food and Beverage Manager and a year later, he was transferred to The Peninsula Chicago as Assistant Food and Beverage Director. He was promoted to Director of Food and Beverage in 2003. In 2005, he relocated to Asia, where he first took up the role of Resident Manager at The Peninsula Beijing, before moving onto The Peninsula Tokyo in February 2008 as Hotel Manager, tasked with the hotel's overall management. Mr. Jonathan Crook takes over from Mr. Vlad Reyes as General Manager of The Peninsula Manila.
