Centara Hotels & Resorts, Thailand's leading hotel operator, is pleased to announce the appointment of Tom Pieter Van Tuijl as the new General Manager of Centara Mirage Resort Mui Ne, a fully integrated resort themed as an 'Explorer's Playground' alongside the tranquil coastline with beautiful overlooking views towards Mui Ne Bay. In his new role, Mr. Tom will be responsible for the strategic management and operation of the resort's 984 unique Mediterranean-designed rooms and villas. Prior to joining Centara Hotels & Resorts, he was General Manager of FLC Hotels & Resorts, responsible for FLC SamSon Beach & Golf Resort and FLC Halong Bay Golf Club & Luxury Resort. Before that, he worked for flagship Lotte Hotel in Hanoi. Earlier in his career, he worked for Sheraton, a Marriott brand, both in Africa and Europe in a variety of managerial positions. His expertise covers both rooms and food and beverage management, innovative restaurant and bar concepts, large resort operations, pre-openings, team development and brand management. One of his main achievements is to develop local teams in larger properties, ensuring seamless integration of guest satisfaction and profitability.Mr. Tom holds a degree in Hospitality Administration from Hotelschool The Hague. With his precise knowledge, strong passion and over 20 years of extensive experience in the luxury hotel management industry, including 7 years of experience in Vietnam working in leading hotel groups such as FLC Hotels & Resorts, Lotte Hotels & Resorts and Marriott International, Mr. Tom is expected to bring a wind of change to Centara Mirage Resort Mui Ne with attractive resort programs and activities that continuously contribute to resort success and improve the quality of its services.
Prior to his new role, Ye worked as the Anam Group's executive assistant manager at Anam Cam Ranh. He joined the resort in 2017 as its executive chef and played an instrumental role in establishing its four restaurants and three bars. Ye has worked as a chef at InterContinental and Hilton hotels in South Africa, and took charge of the kitchen at Mia Resort Nha Trang as executive chef for two years before joining the Anam.
In Vietnam, Mark Eletr has been appointed the new general manager of Anantara Mui Ne Resort & Spa as part of a strategic direct GM swap. Mr Eletr has left the position of general manager of Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villa Resort & Spa. Mr Eletr is an Australian-born civil engineer, where he worked in Sydney before beginning his hospitality career in 1996. Mr Eletr has worked in a number of positions covering various aspects of hospitality including a period with Carnival Cruises. Prior to his most recent position of general manager at Antantara in Koh Phangan, Mr Eletr carried out the role general manager at the five-star Bedarra Island Resort in Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. Mr Eletr leaves his position in Australia to join Anantara Mui Ne Resort & Spa in Vietnam.
Queensland native Marland brings more than 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry to her new post at the 84-room resort in Mui Ne, Vietnam’s most dependably sunny beach destination.
Nguyen studied at the Paris Culinary Academy, where he met celebrity chef Eric Robert M.O.F (Meilleurs Ouvrier de France or Best Craftsman of France), the highest distinction for chefs in France. During his time in Paris, Nguyen also had the chance to join Alain Ducasse’s three star Michelin restaurant at the Plaza-Athenee under the culinary expertise of both Ducasse and chef Jean-Francois Piege. Later, he followed chef Piege to open his Michelin two-star “Les Ambassadeur” restaurant at the Hotel de Crillon in Paris. Nguyen returned to Vietnam in 2006. He is now in charge of Anantara Mui Ne’s five restaurants and bars.
Australian Shane McKirdy takes the helm as general manager of the Life Resort-managed Blue Ocean Resort. McKirdy spent the previous 12 months as GM just up the coast at the Life Wellness Resort Quy Nhon. Life Resorts owns and operates two resorts in Vietnam and manages a third. On Vietnam‘s central coast, the 94-room Life Heritage Resort Hoi An evokes the colonial splendor of a bygone era on a quiet stretch of the Thu Bon River within walking distance of the trading port‘s world-famous downtown. On the south-central coast, the 63-room Life Wellness Resort Quy Nhon is dedicated to the tenets of wellness, from yoga, tai chi and Pilates to an ample range of spa treatments and anti-stress and detox programs. Four hours from Ho Ch Minh City, Life manages the 84-room Blue Ocean Resort, featuring a 153-meter private beach, a 26-meter swimming pool and lush tropical grounds. The Dutch resort company is also developing a property on Halong Bay, scheduled to open later in 2010.
