Peter Martin has been appointed as General Manager at MAXX Hotel Sanssouci Potsdam

From Krems to Potsdam: Peter Martin gained his first hotel experience at Hotel Schweizerhof Berlin starting as a commis in service and moving up to Head Waiter. After working as Assistant F&B Manager at Holiday Inn Bristol in the UK, he continued his career path at Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts climbing the ladder at Steigenberger Hotel Berlin up to his Hotel Director positions at hotels in Frankfurt, Meran, Gstaad, Bad Homburg, Konstanz and Bad Neuenahr, as well as running the Steigenberger Festspielrestauration at the Wagner Festival in Bayreuth for 6 years. From his latest assignment in Krems he will now become the new General Manager at MAXX Hotel Sanssouci Potsdam.

2024 Opening for new Hampton by Hilton Potsdam, Germany

As part of a franchise agreement with established partner and operator Signo Hospitality, Hampton by Hilton Potsdam will be the first Hilton property in Potsdam, situated in close proximity to Filmpark Babelsberg, a working film studio and theme park, offering visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the film industry. The city also boasts strong historic heritage with landmarks such as Sanssouci Palace, the summer palace of former Prussian King Frederick the Great. The 163-guest room hotel is expected to open its doors in June 2024, providing amenities including a breakfast area and bar, a meeting room, and gym.

Thomas Wilken has been appointed as General Manager at Steigenberger Sanssouci Potsdam

42-year old Thomas Wilken has been appointed General Manager of the 137-room MAXX by Steigenberger Sanssouci Potsdam with effect from 1 June 2020. In his new capacity, Mr. Wilken will be responsible for all operational and administrative business areas of the hotel. The previous Director Thomas Schneider is leaving the company at the end of June in order to relocate to Belgium. Mr. Schneider will, however, be making his experience and expertise available to his successor in the meantime.Thomas Wilken has gained valuable experience of his own during the past few years as a Director of Operations and Executive Assistant Manager. His employers have included the Marriott and Kempinski hotel groups. After completing his upper secondary school leaving certificate, Mr. Wilken trained as a cook at the Sansibar Restaurant on the Island of Sylt before embarking upon a hotel management training programme with Marriott International.

Steigenberger's MAXX brand opens 3rd property in Potsdam Germany

The MAXX family is growing: With the MAXX Hotel Sanssouci Potsdam, the young brand opens its third hotel after Bad Honnef and Vienna within a few months. The current Steigenberger Hotel Sanssouci Potsdam is being renovated and redesigned from the ground up. All 137 rooms of the hotel are already equipped according to the new young design, the renovation of kitchen and restaurant is completed. In the public areas, the conversion work is currently in full swing. Potsdam's new flagship will open on August 1st, 2019.

Norman Mark has been appointed as General Manager at Steigenberger Hotel Sanssouci

Gondra Wettley will be succeeded at the Steigenberger Hotel Sanssouci in Potsdam by the 37-year old French national Norman Mark. After training as a restaurant specialist at the Brenners Park-Hotel in Baden-Baden, Mr. Mark held a number of jobs including Catering Event Supervisor at Catering's Best by InterContinental Frankfurt, Assistant Banquet Convention Manager and Assistant F&B Manager at the Sheraton Frankfurt Hotel & Towers and Director of F&B at the Hôtel Concorde Berlin. He moved to the Steigenberger Hotel Berlin in the spring of 2012, where he rose to the position of Executive Assistant Manager.
