Ken McKenzie has been appointed as General Manager at Scottsdale Resort & Conference Center

McKenzie brings almost 45 years of hospitality experience to the general manager role, with more than three decades of executive-level project management experience on large resort construction and renovation projects. He spent the past 23 years at Tempe Mission Palms in nearby Tempe, Ariz., where he led the management teams through two different multi-million dollar renovations. McKenzie has extensive state- and national-level hospitality industry board experience, including serving on the Tempe Tourism Office board since 1992. He also has been active in the Arizona Lodging & Tourism Association (AzLTA), currently serving as chairman. In 2003, AzLTA named him Manager of the Year and inducted him into their Hall of Fame in 2007.

Patrick Connors has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at The Scottsdale Resort and Conference Center

As director of sales and marketing, Connors leads the property's sales and marketing teams and manages the marketing budget along with the leisure, group, and catering sales teams. He also oversees the external advertising and public relations teams as they market the hotel to key audiences. Connors joins Scottsdale Resort after spending the past 27 years in sales, marketing and strategic planning positions in the hospitality industry, mostly recently serving as vice president of sales and marketing at The Wigwam in Phoenix. Previously, he worked in senior marketing and sales roles at Riviera Palm Springs, Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina and Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort & Spa in Phoenix.

Ann Cvelich has been appointed as General Manager at Courtyard Scottsdale Salt River

Cvelich began her career with the company in 1981 at the JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa. She was named dual general manager of the Springhill Suites Tempe at Arizona Mills Mall and TownePlace Suites Tempe at Arizona Mills Mall in 2001. She became the general manager at the Courtyard Scottsdale Old Town beginning in 2002, and awards soon followed. In her time as the leader of that hotel, she was honored in 2003 as Western Region Courtyard General Manager of the Year and received numerous awards for owner relations (2009, 2011 and 2012) and sales excellence (2009, 2010 and 2011).

Jerry Jensen has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at Scottsdale Resort & Conference Center

Benchmark Hospitality International®, a leading US-based hospitality management company, has named Jerry Jensen director of sales and marketing for Scottsdale Resort & Conference Center. Brenda Weskamp, general manager for the property, a Benchmark Resort® located in Scottsdale, Arizona, made the announcement.Jerry Jensen is a veteran of more than 30 years in hospitality sales and marketing. Previously Mr. Jensen was director of sales and marketing for the Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort & Spa in Tucson, Arizona, where he managed the property's successful transition from an independent to a branded resort. He has served in the same role for a variety of properties throughout the western United States, from large downtown convention hotels to boutique resorts, upscale independent properties and major brands. In addition, he has held area and regional director of sales and marketing positions.

Liann Marks has been named General Manager at Talavera at Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North

Marks brings with her an extensive amount of experience, including more than four years with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. She was most recently the restaurant manager at Pahu ia Restaurant at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai. Prior to that, she was instrumental in the opening of the property’s Beach Tree restaurant.

Ben Shank has been appointed as Resort Manager at Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North

A 13-year veteran of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, he most recently hails from the brand’s acclaimed Maui resort. Shank comes to the Resort following a two-year appointment at Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, where he served as Food & Beverage Director. Prior to that, he served in the same capacity at the former Four Seasons Resort Aviara for three years. He also spent time at Four Seasons Hotel New York, and was part of the team that opened L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, 57 Restaurant and Ty Lounge. His hospitality career started as a busboy at Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia, where he worked his way up to the General Manager position at the Five-Star Fountain Restaurant.

Victoria Strubbe has been appointed as Leisure Sales Manager at Enchantment Group

Prior to joining Enchantment Group, Strubbe spent two years as Leisure & Business Travel Sales Manager of the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix, where she developed and maintained relationships with FHR, Virtuoso and Signature and local negotiated business travel accounts. Previously, Strubbe spent close to three years as a Media Buyer/Planner for RMG Marketing in Phoenix and a full year as Hospitality Manager of Evening Entertainment Group in Scottsdale. A native of Chicago, Strubbe earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Arizona State University in Tempe. She resides in Phoenix.

Morgans Hotel Group Provides Update on the Status of Hotel Property in Scottsdale, Arizona

Morgans Hotel Group Co. (NASDAQ: MHGC) (“MHG”) today announced that it has not been able to reach an acceptable agreement with its lenders on a restructuring of the loans on its hotel in Scottsdale that would be in the best long-term interests of its shareholders. As a result and consistent with previous indications from management, MHG is prepared for the lenders to exercise their remedies with respect to the hotel.

Jack Miller has been appointed as General Manager at Fairmont Scottsdale

Miller, who began his career as a dishwasher at the Atlantis Beach Lodge in Florida, went on to gain experience at the front desk, in culinary and in night audit, and quickly worked his way to hotel GM in Texas at the age of 22. He was the GM of various Holiday Inns from 1979-1985 and later became president and COO of Appleton Inns in Bedford, N.H. From there, Miller has a long career with InterContinental Hotels, where he was regional VP of operations, overseeing 12 hotels. He held the post of GM at the InterContinental Houston for several years before returning to Florida as the GM of the InterContinental Miami in 2004. For his excellence in leadership, Miller earned the General Manager of the Year Award twice at InterContinental Hotels, twice at Crowne Plaza Hotels and three times at Holiday Inn. He led Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts to winning the company’s prestigious Torchbearer Award three consecutive years.
