Colin Chun has been appointed as Executive Chef at W Taipei

Born in Korea, Chef Chun grew up in the restaurant industry, debuted cooking professionally at the age of 20 at his family owned restaurant in Pusan. He then sharpened his culinary skill in several prestigious restaurants and hotels in Australia. With more than 18 years working experience in the industry, Chef Chun is introducing his contemporary, dynamic and surprising flavors to the Taiwan market. Before joining the W team, Chef Chun was the Sous Chef of Doyles Seafood Restaurant in Sydney, one of the most popular seafood establishments in the city since 1885. After a few years cultivating his skills in the premier fine dining Italian restaurant Nino Hideaway, Chef Chun joined Swissotel in Sydney where he had the chance to create dishes for the famous movie star, Hugh Jackman. One of Jackman’s favorite dishes - Poached salmon and steamed spinach - can be found in the healthy menu in the Kitchen Table. While working with Sheraton in Sydney, he was twice appointed to take charge of the Prime Minister’s Banquet for more than 400 guests. The charming movie star Orlando Bloom once came to Chef Chun’s kitchen at the Sheraton Sydney and requested that he be allowed to make a simple sandwich and salad for his beloved Miranda Kerr, a Victoria’s Secret model. Chef Chun ended up as his sous chef helping Orlando with his loving, caring dish.

Taieb TJ Joulak has been appointed as Hotel Manager at W Hotel Taipei

TJ’s began his Starwood journey since 2002 and started by opening the Iberostar Hammamet in Tunisia, the Sheraton Hotel & Towers Tunis, Tunisia, W Doha in Qatar, the W Istanbul in Turkey, W Bali and now W Taipei. He also worked at the world renown Hotel Grande Bretagne, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Athens Greece. TJ’s educational background includes a Higher National Diploma in Hotel Business Management at the University College Birmingham, UK where he finished as first in class and he also acquired a Degree (BA HONS) in International Marketing and Economics at Birmingham University, UK, and then completed an MBA in Economics and Finance for Hospitality from the same University. With Starwood, he achieved numerous courses through Cornell University.

Joyce Hsu has been appointed as official W Taipei Insider at W Taipei

W Taipei has announced the appointment of one Taipei’s brightest personalities, Joyce Hsu, as the official W Taipei Insider – a clued-in concierge to connect the hotel’s savvy guests to Taipei’s hottest events, happenings and entertainment. Joyce graduated from Boston University School of Hospitality Administration in 2010. A Taipei native, fluent in English and Mandarin, Joyce brings an insider’s perspective from previous intern experience in one of New York’s largest event companies “Espace” (under Capitale Ventures) and high-end restaurant Privus Sushi Lounge in Boston where her culinary taste got developed. She then joined W Taipei team in February 2011 and is uniquely suited to creating one-of-a-kind experiences exclusively for W Taipei guests.

Ashley Hansen has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at W Taipei

Hansen is passionate for marketing and sales as well as exceptional service delivery. His love of food and travel spills into everything he does, perfectly complementing W’s introduction of the “lifestyle hotel” concept to Taipei. Hansen brings to W Taipei twelve years of hospitality experience working at various position levels with responsibility for sales and revenue development across a wide range of diverse markets and cultures including properties in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, London and Sydney. Cary Michael Gray has been named General Manager at W Taipei

Cary Gray joined Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., parent company of W Hotels & Resorts, in 1980. In 1985, Gray was assigned to the Sheraton Okinawa and promoted just two years later to general manager, becoming the youngest general manager in the company. His passionate dedication to quality and his knack for making guests feel at home have been the hallmarks of his career. Gray has served as general manager for a long list of luxury hotels, including St. Regis Beijing, St. Regis Shanghai, The Westin Tokyo, Kobe Bay Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Sheraton Okinawa, Sheraton Grande Laguna Beach at Phuket, Thailand, and -- simultaneously -- Australia’s Sheraton Mirage Gold Coast and Sheraton Port Douglas.

Robert H. Burns has been named Honorary Chairman at Regent Hotels & Resorts

Following the acquisition of Regent Hotels & Resorts (www.regenthotels.com) from privately-held Carlson Hospitality Group and Brussels-based Rezidor Hotel Group, Formosa International Hotels Corporation (FIHC) (www.grandformosa.com.tw/), the largest and most profitable hotel company listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (2707.TW), announces a new global leadership team for Regent Hotels & Resorts. Regent was founded in the 1970s by American Robert H.
