A seasoned professional in the hospitality industry, Matt Drusch brings 15 years of management experience to his new role as director of sales and marketing. Prior to joining Omni Hotels & Resorts, Matt built a dynamic career at both branded and independent hotels through his work as director of sales & marketing throughout the Midwest. In 2016, Matt was appointed to director of sales & marketing at Omni Dallas Hotel at Park West where he developed a strong sales staff and implemented strategic sales plans for the property. Most recently, Matt brought his talents to Omni Oklahoma City Hotel, where he served as director of sales to support the pre-opening team.

Omni Hotels & Resorts Breaks Ground On Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU

Omni Hotels & Resorts announced today it broke ground on Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU, a 330-guest-room hotel, set to open in 2023, in the heart of downtown Tempe on the Arizona State University (ASU) campus. Peter Strebel, president of Omni Hotel & Resorts, broke ground alongside Tempe Mayor Corey Woods, as well as ASU President Michael Crow, Regent Bill Ridenour and John Creer, vice president of real estate at ASU, and other notable guests. The 16-story hotel, located at 7 East University Drive, will augment Tempe's revitalized downtown area, and bring some of the largest conference and meeting space to the city.

With the hotel's debut comes three distinct, brand-new dining concepts as well. Led by seasoned Valley Chef Alexander Robinson, the signature ground-f loor restaurant Terra Tempe Kitchen & Spirits features healthy cuisine that cleverly combines bold, rustic flavors with locally sourced ingredients to offer an authentic reflection of the Southwest's rich history, plus an innovative drink program packed with nature-infused craft cocktails, local Arizona brews and an impressive wine list. The Westin Tempe, the largest new hotel to debut in Tempe, Ariz. in nearly four decades, has appointed Patti Hunt as the general manager ahead of their late summer opening.As the general manager of The Westin Tempe, Patti Hunt is a veteran of the hospitality industry with over three decades of experience successfully launching and managing luxury hotels within the portfolios of some of the world's leading hotel brands.Hunt comes to The Westin Tempe after illustrious tenures with the likes of Marriott Hotels International, Hilton Hotels, Starwood Hotels, Fairmont Hotels, Carlson Hospitality, and various other inde pendent brands. A distinguished hotelier, Hunt has acquired a number of prominent trade and leadership awards throughout her career, including the Business Impact Award by Downtown Tempe Authority, Hotel of the Year by Pacific Hospitality Group, General Manager of the Year by Marriott Hotels International, Hotel of the Year by Fairmont Hotels International, and the Pride, CARE Cup and Connie awards by Hilton Hotels, among others.Hunt has also been active in education, advocacy and professional development efforts within Arizona's tourism industry for over 26 years, having previously served as the President of the Arizona Hospitality Human Resources Association and the Tourism Commissioner for the Arizona Skill Standards Commission. Holiday Inn Express & Suites Tempe Completes $5 million Renovation

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Tempe has completed its final phase of a $5 million hotel renovation. This renovation included a complete revamp of the hotel lobby, 24-hour fitness center, a 800-square foot meeting space, food and beverage area, all 128 guestrooms, and the hotel's exterior. The purpose of this renovation was to conform to the sleek and modern style of the Formula Blue design specifications by InterContinental Hotels Group. The renovation was managed by San Diego-based hospitality group RAR Hospitality which acquired Holiday Inn Express and Suites Tempe in September of 2015.

Crestline Hotels & Resorts Selected to Manage New Dual-Branded Hyatt Place and Hyatt House in Arizona

Crestline Hotels & Resorts, LLC ("Crestline") announced today its management of the dual-branded Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotels located on Arizona State University's Tempe Campus. The hotels, which are scheduled to open in the summer of 2020, will be the first dual-branded Hyatt Hotels in the Tempe market and the first hotels to be developed in the ASU Athletic District. The hotels will be a focal point of the 350-acre Novus Corridor on ASU's campus, which will ultimately include 3.9 million square feet of office space, nearly 4,000 homes, and 300,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. The district was created in 2010 by the Arizona Legislature to generate funding for building and renovating ASU athletic facilities. The hotels are being developed by Mortenson Construction and will be owned by Apple Hospitality REIT, Inc.

Viktoria Riley has been appointed as Director of Sales & Marketing at Sheraton Phoenix Airport Hotel Tempe

Mrs. Riley most recently served as the Director of Sales & Marketing at Frenchman’s Reef & Morningstar Marriott Beach Resort on St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where she oversaw the marketing relations and sales goals. Prior sales experience includes management positions at the Courtyard by Marriott Munich City Center in Munich, the Copenhagen Marriott Hotel in Copenhagen and for Marriott International in the Orlando International Sales Office. A native of Sweden who is fluent in six languages, Mrs. Riley has been honored with several industry awards, including leading the Regional & Global Sales Team of the Year for Marriott International in 2007.
