IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), [LON: IHG, NYSE:IHG (ADRs)], Latin America's most experienced international hotel company, today announced that the Holiday Inn Express Rio Brancoin Brazil has broken ground. The new-build hotel is scheduled to open in late 2013, just in time for the forthcoming FIFA World Cup in Brazil. When the property opens, it will be IHG's first hotel in Rio Branco.
Brazil's lodging fundamentals remain positive as the country experienced a double-digit rise in average daily rates (ADR) and record revenue per available room (RevPAR) growth in 2011. Brazil Hospitality Group hereby announces that it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with PDG for the management of a hotel project to be developed in Campos de Goytacazes, Rio de Janeiro state. This will be the second project operated by BHG in the municipality: in December 2010, the Company announced the construction of a 140-room Tulip Inn hotel in the selected services standard under development in the same city.
IHG announced the opening of the Holiday Inn Express Maceio Ponta Verde in Brazil. The new-build, 160-room hotel is located one block from beautiful Ponta Verde beach in Maceió, the capital of the coastal state Alagoas, in Northeast Brazil and one of the top tourist destinations in the country.
Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, with its partner Atlantica Hotels International, has announced the opening of the Radisson Hotel Belem. The project is the seventh Radisson property in Brazil and the first Atlantica Hotel in the state of Pará. Best Western International continues its expansion in South America with the addition of the chain's first BEST WESTERN PREMIER hotel in Brazil, the BEST WESTERN PREMIER Majestic Ponta Negra Beach. The five-star hotel, adjacent to Ponta Negra, the most famous beach in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, offers guests 135 rooms and 15 suites – including several with sweeping views of Ponta Negra Beach.
The agreement calls for 3,000 guest rooms to be developed in the country through 2014. Currently, six deals have been finalized to open Super 8 hotels in Congonhas do Campo, Sete Lagoas, Betim, Lagoa Santa and Pouso Alegre with additional agreements anticipated to be executed this year.
Accor opens the 11th hotel of its midscale brand Novotel in Brazil with its historical local partner, Atrio Hotéis, specialized in the development and management of hotels, and with Prisma Engenharia, a real estate company. Both partners invested BRL 30 million to develop this 166-room hotel.
Currently, Grupo Solare manages 7 hotels in Sao Luis, in the budget (Soft Inn), economy (Expresso XXI), and midscale (Solare Hoteis and Suites) categories, totaling 858 rooms. The Group also manages the luxury hotel Gran Solare Lencois Resort, with 242 rooms, which located at the entry gate of the Lencois Maranhenses National Park, in the city of Barreirinhas.
Sheraton® Hotels & Resorts today announced the signing of the Sheraton Reserva do Paiva Hotel and Convention Center, a new project in Pernambuco state in the northeast region of Brazil. The Sheraton Reserva do Paiva is being developed by the Portuguese group Promovalor and the Brazilian group Odebrecht Realizações Imobiliárias and will be the first five star hotel in Reserva do Paiva, located approximately 30 minutes from Recife, as part of the third phase of this planned community. The hotel is scheduled to open in March 2014.

IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), [LON: IHG, NYSE:IHG (ADRs)] today announced the signing of the Holiday Inn Express in the city of Rio Branco, Brazil. The new-build property is slated to open in November 2013. The hotel will be owned by Inter-Oceanica Hotelaria e Turismo Ltda., under a franchise agreement with a company in the InterContinental Hotels Group.
Upon opening, the seven-story Holiday Inn Express Rio Branco will feature 110 guestrooms, four meeting rooms, business center, fitness center, indoor pool and plenty of guest parking.
