Starwood Hotels & Resorts Accelerates Growth in Latin America with the Signing of Sheraton Santos Hotel

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE:HOT) today announced its long-established presence in Brazil will expand with the signing of Sheraton® Santos Hotel, owned by local real estate developer Grupo Mendes, marking the company's 10th hotel in the country. The signing comes on the heels of the recent reopening of Sheraton Barra Rio de Janeiro Hotel in May and, fitting for the Sheraton brand, will be the first international upper-upscale hotel in Santos in the state of São Paulo.

nst the expectations of the third quarter preview of Trends and Opportunities Brazil, in the fourth and last quarter of 2014 the overall performance of the subject hospitality markets analyzed decreased. Historically, periods of presidential elections may cause some trouble to the corporate hospitality demand. Especially this year, uncertainties about the election result and its reflex in the economy slowed down the corporate market in the period. These factors allied to the expressive supply growth in some cities, resulted in negatives variations of RevPAR in all cities but São Paulo.

IHG Announces the Signing of a New Holiday Inn Express® Hotel in Belem, Brazil

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), one of the world's leading hotel companies, announces the signing of a new-build Holiday Inn Express® hotel in Belem, Brazil. Slated to open mid-2016, the 128-room property will be located between the Nazaré and Umazairal neighborhoods, in a very well-known area near downtown Belem. Three new Accor hotels in Recife, Brazil

In May 2015, three new addresses will open in Recife, which has been dubbed the "Brazilian Venice". Recife is a colorful city with many canals, superb religious buildings and a beach stretching for several kilometers. In a few months' time it will be home to the Mercure Recife Mar Hotels Conventions, the Grand Mercure Recife Atlante Plaza and the Grand Mercure Summerville Resort, which will replace three hotels from the Pontes Hotels & Resorts network. Hyatt Announces Plans For Two New Hotels In Brazil

Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) and FSA Group S.A. announced today that joint venture entities formed by Hyatt affiliates and FSA Group have entered into agreements to purchase two sites in Brazil to develop Hyatt Place Sorocaba and Hyatt Place Macaé. Upon the closing of the site acquisitions, the joint venture entities will enter into agreements with FSA Group to manage the design, planning and construction of the hotels and with Hyatt affiliates to provide management services in connection with the operation of the hotels upon opening, which is expected in the first quarter of 2017.
