Don Fennerty has been appointed as General Manager at Fairmont Empress

Fairmont is pleased to announce several recent management and supervisory-level appointments at its properties worldwide. Don Fennerty, who takes the helm as general manager, The Fairmont Empress. Fennerty brings a wealth of hospitality experience to this position and most recently was general manager at sister property The Fairmont Hotel Macdonald. Over the last 30 years, Fennerty’s career has seen him take on a number of progressive roles in the areas of food & beverage, operations, human resources, banqueting, front office and rooms.

Derek Damon has been appointed as Food & Beverage Director at Rosewood Hotel Georgia

Rosewood Hotel Georgia is delighted to welcome Derek Damon to the role of Food & Beverage Director at Vancouver’s leading luxury hotel. Responsible for operations at both Reflections restaurant & lounge and 1927 lobby lounge, as well as banquets, weddings and room services, Derek will also be integral to the opening of Prohibition, slated for the end of the year.

Vito Romeo has been appointed as General Manager at Shangri-La Hotel Vancouver

Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver announces the appointment of Vito Romeo to the position of general manager. Mr. Romeo joins the hotel from the 670 room Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing in China’s capital city, where he served as resident manager from 2009 to March 2012. During this tenure, he also studied at Cornell and graduated in the general managers’ program in 2011.

Bernd Bohl has been appointed as General Manager at Huntingdon Hotel & Suites

Recently, Bohl was general manager of The Yorkland Hotel in Toronto, ON. Previous general manager positions in Canada include The Grand Okanagan Lakefront Resort & Conference Centre in Kelowna, BC; Hotel Voyager Inn & Spruce Grove Inn in Banff, AB; and Quality Suites Toronto Airport in Toronto, ON. Dana Hauser has been appointed as Brand’s First Female Executive Chef at Fairmont Waterfront

Dana discovered her enthusiasm for cooking while studying Psychology at the Memorial University of Newfoundland. During her studies, she craved a career that combined her love for food and travel and a desire to perform within a team environment. Dana soon discovered her culinary cravings and enrolled in the culinary program at Canadore College. Her apprenticeship began at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge where the Executive Chef immediately recognized a natural talent; offering Dana the option to complete her apprenticeship at the resort. Leaping at this opportunity, Dana enrolled in the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology's professional cooking program.

Ian Pullan has been appointed as General Manager at Fairmont Waterfront

With a hotel career that’s taken Ian Pullan around the world and back, he’s landed in Vancouver, British Columbia as the new General Manager of The Fairmont Waterfront. Crossing the water from his General Manager’s post at The Fairmont Orchid, Mr. Pullan leaves the sunny Big Island of Hawaii for the cosmopolitan city of Vancouver. He takes over the reins from retired General Manager, Francis Parkinson at one of four Fairmont properties located on the West Coast amidst the spectacular mountains and the sea.

Steve Halliday has been appointed as Managing Director at Rosewood Hotel Georgia

The Rosewood Hotel Georgia in Vancouver, B.C., Canada is scheduled to open in early 2011. With four decades of experience and success in the management of luxury hotel operations, Halliday joins Rosewood Hotels & Resorts following his most recent position as founder and president of Halliday Hospitality Group, which worked directly with Pan Pacific Hotels Group to develop new hotels for the company. Prior to that, he spent 26 years in senior positions within Pan Pacific Hotels Group, most notably as Vice President and General Manager of Pan Pacific Vancouver for more than 10 years, first opening the hotel in 1986 for the World’s Fair. Now, Halliday will manage Rosewood’s newest addition and second Canadian property to its already outstanding collection of notable properties.

Todd Mallen has been appointed as General Manager at Spirit Ridge Vineyard Resort & Spa

A second generation Hotelier and graduate from the Hospitality Management program in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Todd joins Spirit Ridge with a tremendous background in condo resort/hotel management and a passion for exceptional customer service. He joined the staff at Kelowna’s Lake Okanagan Resort in 1987 and had served as the General Manager since 2001. During that time he developed his knowledge and experience in all aspects of resort management. Todd joined the Bellstar Team in 2009 as Canmore Interim General Manager.
