Hilton Worldwide today announced the signing of a management agreement with Yunnan Chengjiang Great Eagle Resort Co., Ltd. for the first Hilton Hotels & Resorts hotel in Yuxi city, Yunnan Province, China. Comprising 350 rooms, Hilton Yuxi Fuxian Lake Resort is scheduled to open in 2013. It will also mark Hilton Worldwide's entry into central Yunnan Province, the top tourist destination in China.
Horwath HTL China has released its latest quarterly newsletter, in which it reports updates on the performance of hotels in key Chinese markets. According to Horwath HTL China and STR Global, most of the key 13 Chinese markets have experienced strong growth in occupancy, average daily rate (ADR) and Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) in Q1 2011, compared to the same quarter last year.

With 150 hotels currently open, IHG is also China's biggest employer in the hotel industry with 52,000 employees. IHG plans double its presence with opening of another 150 hotels which require an additional 90,000 employees in the next five years.
Marco Polo Hotels announced the management of a new property in Guizhou Province, China – The Marco Polo Guiyang. The performance of the Chinese market shows continued year-on-year growth in revenue per available room (RevPAR) for the first four months of 2011 with a 7.7-percent increase to CNY462. As can be seen in the table below, all cities but Suzhou reported RevPAR increases.
