Steigenberger is continuing its expansion in China. A new five-star hotel is set to open in Heihe as early as
next year. The city lies directly on the border between China and Russia and thus is ideally situated to cater
to business travellers and tourists from both countries. The hotel, the design of which is based on a palace,
forms part of a nine-element residential complex with its own parking facilities. The site is only separated from
Russia by the River Amur. The main building will offer guests 202 rooms and suites, a Ballroom, three
restaurants, a bar, three conference rooms and a Business Lounge. Further events facilities, a tennis centre,
an indoor swimming pool and a spa will be housed in the neighbouring buildings. Puneet Chhatwal, CEO of
Steigenberger Hotels AG, comments: "Heihe is exhibiting double-digit growth rates in the number of
overnight stays in the city. This makes it an important location for the Steigenberger Hotel Group. With the
first five-star hotel in the region, we will place a flagship of the Steigenberger brand in the Chinese
market."The contractual partners for the project are The German Hotel Group (Beijing) Co., Ltd., that
Steigenberger has a 50 per cent share in, and Heihe Yinjian Investment Co., Ltd. The hotel will be operated
via a management agreement.
