Tribute Portfolio, Marriott International's newest collection of characterful independent hotels, continues to expand its European footprint with the opening of Gekko House, the brand's second hotel in Germany and first in Frankfurt. The 128-room urban-designed hotel is situated in the heart of Frankfurt's up-and-coming Gallus district known for its converted warehouses and factories, which is now home to eclectic music venues and theatres. Frankfurt-based Morgen Interiors led the design, creating a captivating urban aesthetic reflective of Frankfurt's open-minded culture whilst inviting spontaneity and fun, inspired by the hotel's motto, 'life is crazy.'

Peter Mikkelsen has been appointed as Area General Manager at Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts

Peter B. Mikkelsen has been appointed Area General Manager Berlin for Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts as of 1 March. This move means that Mr. Mikkelsen, who has just finished a successful stint as Managing Director of the Steigenberger Hotel Cologne, will be responsible in future for the Steigenberger Hotel Am Kanzleramt, the Steigenberger Hotel Berlin at Los Angeles Platz and the Steigenberger Airport Hotel in Berlin. He will also head up the Steigenberger Hotel Am Kanzleramt in the capacity of General Manager. Peter B. Mikkelsen began his career at the Steigenberger Graf Zeppelin in Stuttgart, where he trained in the occupation of hotel specialist. He then went on to complete a degree in Hotel Administration before gathering experience at business hotels operated by Sheraton, Hilton and Rezidor and securing the position of General Manager at the Radisson Blu in Warsaw. Mr. Mikkelsen has been General Manager of the Steigenberger Hotel Cologne since 2016.

Deutsche Hospitality And Gross & Partner Announce A Spectacular Hotel At Frankfurt Airport

Frankfurt's newest quarter Gateway Gardens is about to gain a conference and meetings centre. Steigenberger Hotels AG and the property developer Groß & Partner have signed an agreement to create one of Germany's largest convention hotels within the direct vicinity of Frankfurt Airport. Once complete, the Steigenberger Kongress Hotel Frankfurt Airport will provide 527 rooms and suites across 18 storeys and a Conference Centre extending over an area of 5,500 square metres. It will also be located at an international transport hub which lies at the very heart of Europe. The official ground-breaking ceremony will take place in 2021, and the hotel is scheduled to open in 2024. Gateway Gardens already has its own stop on the Frankfurt suburban railway network, and the Steigenberger Kongress Hotel will be situated right in front of this station. Trains will whisk passengers to the airport's own regional station in only two minutes, whilst Frankfurt Central Station is also only nine minutes away. These excellent links combined with the new facilities on offer will create a wealth of new opportunities for event organisers.

Zleep Hotels arrives in the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main metropolitan area

Deutsche Hospitality has announced another strategic milestone. The Zleep Hotel Frankfurt Airport is set to become the second hotel to operate under the brand in Germany following the Zleep Hotel Hamburg Altonaer Volkspark. The Zleep Hotel Frankfurt Airport is a new build project which is being completed in conjunction with the property development company Four Points Development GmbH. The hotel is scheduled to open in spring 2022. It will offer 165 rooms, a Nordic design lobby and snack bar, a gym area and numerous car parking spaces including underground parking.

Henning Matthiesen has been appointed as Managing Director at Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa

On January 1, 2020, Henning Matthiesen was appointed the new Managing Director of Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa, the principal hotel of the Oetker Collection. The 47-year-old hotelier succeeds Frank Marrenbach who will now devote all his time to his role as CEO of the Oetker Collection. In his new job at the legendary grand hotel in Baden-Baden, Henning Matthiesen will be able to draw on a wealth of experience which he acquired during his career at some of Europe's most renowned hotels.

Hyatt House Frankfurt Eschborn Officially Opens

Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE:H) announced the opening of Hyatt House Frankfurt Eschborn, which marks the ninth Hyatt-branded hotel in Germany. Managed by the HR Group, the 190-room Hyatt House hotel is located in the well-established business area of Eschborn and aims to provide extended-stay residents a home away from home while on the road.

Deutsche Hospitality opens the IntercityHotel Hannover Hauptbahnhof Ost

Another new generation IntercityHotel has joined the Deutsche Hospitality portfolio. The four-star IntercityHotel Hannover Hauptbahnhof Ost opened its doors for business on 10 February to become the second hotel in the city to operate under the brand. It houses 220 guest rooms spread over 14 storeys as well as offering a restaurant, a Bistro Lounge and five conference rooms. Interior design once again bears the characteristic signature of the Italian architect Matteo Thun. The IntercityHotel Hannover Hauptbahnhof Ost is positioned in the upper midscale segment. Its central location on the eastern side of Hanover's main railway station provides excellent transport links. There is also a public car park within the immediate vicinity, from which the hotel can be accessed directly.

Yilmaz Yildirimlar has been appointed as Area Senior VP for Eastern Europe, Russia & Turkey (EERUT) at Radissson Hotel Group in Frankfurt am Main, Germany

Yilmaz started his career with the Group in Vienna in 1995 and has held several leadership positions at Radisson Blu Hotels in Amsterdam, Manchester and Bucharest. He has served as District Director for South Eastern Europe and Regional Director in Eastern Europe, based in Moscow, until his appointment in 2017 as Area Senior Vice President, Central & Southern Europe. Originally from Turkey, Yilmaz Yildirimlar studied hotel management and holds an MBA in Finance. He has also achieved several degrees in the fields of leadership, real estate and asset management.
