In his new role, Rai will oversee the general operations and management of the 392-room property, The Leela Mumbai. Rai began his career with The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts as a management trainee in 1998 and went on to lead the Front Office Department at The Leela Palace Bangalore and thereafter at various luxury hotels as Rambagh Palace, Jaipur, Taj Bengal, Kolkata, Taj Land’s End, Mumbai and most recently as General Manager at Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur.

Tata's Orient-Express Hotels investment value plunges by 67% | indiatimes.com

The value of Indian Hotels Company's (IHCL) six-year old stake in Orient-Express Hotels has reduced by two-thirds, further narrowing the options India's largest hospitality chain has for the British hotels-to-trains group. IHCL, known best for operating the Taj chain, holds about 7% stake in Orient-Express, which is now worth $86 million based on the NYSE-listed firm's Friday closing price. According to IHCL's latest annual report, its cost of acquisition towards Orient-Express shares was $262 million.

IHG and Omaxe sign new Holiday Inn in New Chandigarh, India

IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), one of the world's leading hotel companies and India's leading premier real estate developer Omaxe, have signed an agreement for the new-build Holiday Inn New Chandigarh Sector 4B. The hotel will add to IHG's strong pipeline of properties of the Holiday Inn brand family, which represent 85% of the hotel group's growth in India.Located within a 1,000 acre township known as Omaxe New Chandigarh, the 150-room hotel will be part of a mixed-use development which includes commercial, retail and residential establishments, answering to New Chandigarh's demand for both business and leisure travel in the area.
