Walter Hess has been appointed as General Manager at Chedi Club Jimbaran

Anticipating the launch of its fourth luxury hotel on Bali, GHM has named Walter Hess general manager of The Chedi Club Jimbaran Bali, set to open its doors later this year. A 44-year-old Swiss native with a prominent career in destinations as diverse as the Caribbean, Canada and Costa Rica, Hess arrives in Bali off his most recent post as resident manager at the highly acclaimed Nam Hai in Hoi An, Vietnam. He received his hospitality training in Hotel and Restaurant Management from the prestigious École hôtelière de Lausanne, and spent five years honing his skills in the food and beverage arena at hotels in Geneva and Bern before relocating to Malaysia to work at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in the state of Johor. Between 1997 and 2009, Hess caught his stride in key positions in the rooms divisions of a string of five-star Four Seasons hotels, where he climbed the ranks from front desk supervisor to director of rooms. After a two-year stint as Executive Assistant Manager of the One & Only Reethi Rah in the Maldives, Hess joined Singapore-based hotel group GHM in 2012.

Stephane Simond has been appointed as Executive Chef at Alila Villas Uluwatu

Stephane’s culinary career began at the age of 15 with an apprenticeship in l’Auberge Lamartine, one Michelin-starred restaurant in his hometown in the eastern part of France, right in the heart of the Alps. After graduating, he worked in establishments across France and Switzerland; Vista Palace Hotel in Roquebrune Cap Martin, Chateau de Divonne in Divonne-Les-Bains and Relais chateaux La Reserve in Albi. His love for travel took him to the Caribbean where he worked in the kitchens of the beautiful Hotel Le Toiny on the island of St Barthelemy, a Relais& Chateaux property, and La Samanna Hotel by Orient Express in St Maarten.

Siddharth Biswas has been named Resident Manager at Alila Villas Uluwatu

Siddharth Biswas has joined Alila as Resident Manager at Alila Villas Uluwatu. Siddharth began his career after graduating from the prestigious Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne in Switzerland. His first rolewas with the world’s largest catering company Compass Group PLC, before joining Kempinski Hotel’s head office. Siddharth went on to work at established properties and as part of several pre-opening teams across Europe, South East Asia, Africa, the Middle East and China. In his new position Siddharth will play a key role in the everyday operations and running of the hotel, working closely with the resort’s General Manager, Marco Groten, to continue providing the best of high-end personalised service for their guests.

Patrick Murray has been appointed as General Manager at Alila Jakarta

Patrick has over 30 years experience in the hospitality industry.He started his career with the Intercontinental Hotel in London before going on to work in some of the capital’s most recognised hotels, including The Ritz Hotel, The Berkeley, Hyatt Carlton Tower and the Hyde Park Hotel before moving to Australia where he was part of the opening team for the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne. Patrick has garnered extensive international experience during his career having worked in China, Bahrain, Oman, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Cambodia, Bali and Boracay. He was also part of the opening teams for the Prince Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, the Legends Hotel on Australia’s Gold Coast and Palazzo Versace, the first Versace hotel in the world. Throughout his career, Patrick has received numerous awards for his ability to recognize and nurture developing talent, this will continue to be a strong focus in his new role at Alila Jakarta, alongside the day to day operations of this 245 room design hotel.

Sunlake Group of Hotels in Jakarta Adds Full Portfolio to Pegasus Connect+

Sunlake Group of Hotels in Jakarta has moved its full portfolio of privately owned hotels to Pegasus Connect+. The four five-star Indonesian hotels, including the Hotel Merlynn Park, Sunlake Hotel Jakarta, Metro Hotel Semarang and Hotel Manhattan Jakarta, will now be available through the global distributions systems (GDSs) and TravelSky in China under Pegasus Solutions' "UI" chain code. All four hotels can now also drive bookings through hundreds of Pegasus-connected online channels.
