Sushil Sharma has been appointed as General Manager at Fraser Suites West Bay-Doha

Sushil will lead the opening team and hotel operations, with the new property set to open in May 2017. The new 5-star property offers outstanding hotel and leisure facilities and an excellent destination for residents and travellers in Qatar. Sushil is a strategic business leader with strong brand management, hotel operations and people management expertise. He brings with him more than 14 plus years of experience in the luxury hospitality sector which includes award winning luxury hotels like The Radisson Edwardian-London, Marriott Harbor Beach Resort-USA, The Sheraton Overland Park Hotel-USA, The Westin Mumbai Garden City-India and his last assignment with Starwood Hotels & Resorts was the opening of The Westin Singapore before taking on the new challenge in Doha.Sushil holds a bachelor of applied sciences in hospitality administration from Southern New Hampshire University along with a Masters of Business Administration with marketing as his specialisation from the University of Central Missouri State, USA.

Matt Balcik has been appointed as General Manager and Area Managing Director Middle East at sbe

sbe, the leading lifestyle hospitality company that develops, manages and operates award-winning hospitality venues globally, today announced that senior executive Matt Balcik is joining the company as General Manager of Mondrian Doha and Area Managing Director Middle East. Opening in Spring 2017, Mondrian Doha will be sbe’s first Middle East property and brings the energy and Sunset Strip vibe of the original Hollywood Mondrian to the West Bay Lagoon neighborhood of Doha. Balcik will oversee the daily operations of the hotel as well as manage the Middle East properties of sbe. Balcik joins sbe with over 20 years of hospitality experience managing the operations and large-scale teams. Prior to his current position, he was Vice President Operations and Brand Development at Jumeirah Group, where he reported directly to the COO, leading operations while developing and launching a new and contemporary lifestyle brand. He oversaw all aspects of openings, managing over two dozen new-build international hotels over 10 years. Previously, Balcik was General Manager of W Istanbul. There, he delivered outstanding guest experiences while enhancing productivity and efficiency. Balcik holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Management from the California Polytechnic University. He also completed the Executive Development Program at Cornell University.

Sami Aawar has been appointed as General Manager at Mövenpick Hotel Doha

Aawar’s career with Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts started in 2002 as Front Office Duty Manager in Beirut. First he was promoted to Assistant Front Office Manager and later filled the Front Office Manager position at Mövenpick Resort Al Bidaa Kuwait in 2007, where he gained extensive exposure in the housekeeping department. In 2011, Aawar was appointed as Rooms Division Manager at Mövenpick Hotel West Bay Doha.An enriching experience as Director of Operations at Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach Dubai followed in 2014. This was a catalyst for his rise to the role of Task Force General Manager of Mövenpick Hotel Al Aziziyah and Mövenpick Hotel Doha in 2016. The formal appointment to general manager is a result of his successful six-month Task Force assignment in Doha.Aawar started his hospitality career in his native Lebanon, where he joined the food and beverage department of the Al Bustan Hotel in 1997. In the following years, he transferred to front office and worked in independent boutique hotels before joining Mövenpick 15 years ago.
