IHG Opens Madinah’s First Crowne Plaza Hotel

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), the largest international hotel group in Saudi Arabia both by number of rooms and number of hotels, has opened Crowne Plaza Madinah today. The opening marks the first Crowne Plaza hotel in the Holy City. Nizam Bou Antoun has been appointed as General Manager at Park Inn by Radisson Al Khobar

Originally from Lebanon and with more than 17 years of hospitality experience, Antoun moves to KSA from his role of GM at fellow Carlson Rezidor hotel the Radisson Martinez Hotel, Lebannon. In 2001 Antoun moved back to Lebanon to join the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group as Front Office Manager at the Radisson Martinez Hotel and after seven years he moved within the group to become assistant general manager at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Muscat. Park Inn by Radisson, Al Khobar is one of six hotels the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has in KSA and Antoun will be responsible for overseeing a team of 83 staff as well as all operations at the 148 room hotel.

Nihad Kattan has been named regional vice president, Jordan and general manager at Fairmont Riyadh Business Gate

In support of Fairmont’s growing presence in the Middle East, Nihad Kattan has been named regional vice president, Jordan and general manager at Fairmont Riyadh Business Gate. Kattan, who was named to the 2009 list of 50 Most Powerful Hoteliers in the Middle East, has a resume that includes several progressive roles with industry giant Marriott International. He joins Fairmont from his most recent position as country general manager – Jordan for Marriott Hotels based in Amman.

Nizar Weshah has been appointed as General Manager at Hyatt Regency Riyadh, Olaya

Nizar Weshah has been appointed general manager of Hyatt Regency Riyadh, Olaya. Nizar holds a Hotel Management degree from Al Mustansiriyat University in Iraq, and joined Grand Hyatt Amman's opening team in October 1998 as an Outlet Manager, where he was later appointed as Assistant Director of Food & Beverage in July 1999. Weshah has worked in several Hyatt hotels around the world such as Hyatt Hotels Baku, Grand Hyatt Muscat, Hyatt Regency Belgrade and was subsequently appointed in September 2008 as the opening team EAM Food & Beverage for Park Hyatt Jeddah, where he has held his most recent role as Director of Operations since September 2010.

The upcoming Hyatt Regency Riyadh has appointed Olaya Nizar Weshah as general manager. Weshah will lead the preopening of the property which is expected to launch in quarter two of 2013. Hyatt Hotels Corporation Announces Plans for Hyatt Regency Riyadh

Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) announced today that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into an agreement with Mohammed A. Al Swailem Co. for Commercial Investment for a Hyatt Regency hotel in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Hyatt Regency Riyadh marks the seventh Hyatt-branded hotel under development in Saudi Arabia, and the second Hyatt-branded hotel under development in Riyadh; the previously announced Park Hyatt Riyadh is expected to open in 2015. There is currently one Hyatt-branded hotel in Saudi Arabia, Park Hyatt Jeddah - Marina, Club and Spa, which opened in 2009.
