Ruby Announces First Project in Sweden

The Ruby Group has marked its debut in the Scandinavian market by securing its' first project. Located in the heart of the island of Kungsholmen in Stockholm, Ruby is set to develop a 187-room hotel. This venture is in partnership with Alecta Fastigheter, a real estate company owned by Sweden´s largest pension fund Alecta.

IHG re-enters Swedish market with the signing of voco Stockholm Kista

IHG Hotels & Resorts, one of the world's leading hotel companies, has entered into a franchise agreement with Mogotel and development partner Revelop, to mark IHG's re-entry into Sweden with voco Stockholm Kista. This latest signing signifies IHG's strong owner relationships and its commitment to growth in new and emerging markets such as Sweden, drawing on its scale of more than 780 open hotels across Europe.

A second Scandic Go planned for 2024 opening at Fridhemsplan, Stockholm

Scandic Go is the company's new hotel brand in the fast-growing economy segment. The first Scandic Go hotel will open on Upplandsgatan in Stockholm in September, and Scandic has now signed a lease agreement for another Scandic Go, this time a centrally located hotel with 221 rooms at Fridhemsplan on the island of Kungsholmen in Stockholm. The plan is to open the hotel toward the end of the summer of 2024 following a renovation. Scandic signed the lease agreement with the company's largest landlord, Pandox.

184-Key Scandic Oceanhamnen opens in Öresund, Sweden

At the far end of the pier in the climate-smart district of Oceanhamnen, Scandic is pleased to announce the opening of its second hotel in Helsingborg, Scandic Oceanhamnen. The hotel, which has 184 rooms on 13 floors as well as a relaxation area and rooftop terrace, is located on the waterfront overlooking the Öresund sound. Scandic Oceanhamnen has been designed according to the Sweden Green Building Council Gold standard and has been certified by the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, the official ecolabel of the Nordic countries.

Scandic Kiruna first commercial enterprise to open in new city center

April 5 is a historic day in Kiruna. Today, Scandic Kiruna is the first commercial enterprise to open its doors in the new city center, a milestone in the internationally renowned urban transformation that has been ongoing since 2004. The new hotel has 231 rooms on 13 floors and architecture featuring a valley and peak design that echoes the Kebnekaise massif and Lapporten Valley. With the opening of Scandic Kiruna, Scandic will increase its room capacity by 60 rooms and become the largest hotel operator in the city.

Scandic Örebro Central now open – new junction and gateway to Örebro

Scandic has now opened its third hotel in Örebro, in the middle of a vibrant urban development project. Scandic Örebro Central, which has 160 rooms on nine floors, is strategically located next to Örebro Central Station and nestled among corporate and government offices. The hotel will be a new hub for Örebro residents and visitors alike, and Scandic is the first business to open its doors in the new Örebro Entré area. From today, Scandic now offers 596 hotel rooms in Örebro, making it the largest hotel company in the city.

Scandic to open climate-neutral hotel in Sundsvall

Scandic Hotels has signed a long-term lease agreement with Skanska for a new 210-room hotel in downtown Sundsvall. The new hotel, which will be attractively located in the city's harbor area, will be built of wood, giving it a very high environmental standard. The hotel is expected to open during 2024. The hotel will be called Scandic Sundsvall Central.
