One of Abu Dhabi's most prestigious hotels will be rebranded 1st October 2020 following the signing of a management agreement between Hilton (NYSE:HLT) and H.H. Sheikh Suroor Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan. The property will be known as Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers and be the first of Hilton's luxury portfolio to operate in the UAE capital.
Overseeing the property's four F&B venues and overall culinary experience will be Van Qian. Qian has worked across the hotel F&B industry, working as a mixology manager, to assistant director of beverage and food at W Hotel in China. Now in Downtown Dubai he will be expected to apply his knowledge of various different cuisines and cultures.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has appointed long-time employee Tamara Salha as general manager of Crowne Plaza Dubai Marina. s general manager, Salha will oversee the daily operations of the hotel - described as the Crowne Plaza brand's flagship property in the area. Prior to her move to Dubai, Salha was the cluster hotel manager at Crowne Plaza & Staybridge Suites Abu Dhabi Yas Island, a post she held since the start of this year. In the past, she has also been part of the leadership team at voco Dubai, again as hotel manager. Her first stint with IHG started two decades ago when she climbed the ladder in the sales & marketing divisions at InterContiental Phoenicia Beirut.
Hospitality veteran Georges Farhat has taken up a new position in the UAE, now acting as general manager of Minor Hotels' Avani Palm View Dubai Hotels & Suites. Farhat's move to Avani marks his first major hospitality role outside of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), whom he worked with for more than 25 years. Speaking to Hotelier Middle East, the GM told us he had spent half his life climbing the ranks at IHG, finally becoming GM of Crowne Plaza Dubai Marina. In his new role, he will oversee operations of the Avani hotel, expected to open in the final quarter of this year. Once open, the 48-storey hotel will sit between Media City and Dubai Marina, offering easy access to much of Dubai. It will feature 527 keys, ranging from 45 sqm studios to 425 sqm four-bed residences, with kitchens and private terraces. The hotel will also boast three F&B venues, an infinity pool and a gym. Replacing Farhat at Crowne Plaza Dubai is Tamara Salha who has been with IHG since 2000.
