Terry Hamada has been appointed as Director of Food and Beverage at Halekulani

Halekulani Corporation, which owns and manages the world-renowned Halekulani and Waikiki Parc Hotels on Oahu has appointed Mr. Terry Hamada to the position of Director of Food and Beverage at Halekulani. Mr. Hamada will assume his new position as of February 1, 2012. The announcement was made today by Peter Shaindlin, Chief Operating Officer of Halekulani Corporation. Mr. Hamada joins the Halekulani executive team from his recent tenure as Hotel Manager of the Grand Park Otaru Hotel in Hokkaido, Japan. His award-winning achievements include the gold medal in the International Exhibition of Culinary Art, an event considered the culinary equivalent of the International Olympics.

J. Scott Robison has been appointed as Director of Sales & Marketing at The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua

Hailing from Virginia, Robison’s most recent achievements as director of sales and marketing at The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner, will bring to the luxury 463-room seaside property a dynamic new perspective. During his tenure, the DC-metro area hotel experienced double-digit RevPAR growth and 23% market share growth for 2011, while leading a sales and marketing team of 18 -- representing group, catering, business travel, leisure segments, and all public relations, marketing and revenue management efforts. Such successes resulted in Robison receiving numerous accolades and awards from Ritz-Carlton’s regional and global sales organizations, as well as hotel ownership. His team also landed Host Hotels & Resorts' “2010 Sales and Marketing Team of the Year Award” for luxury and resort class hotels. Prior to joining the international luxury brand, Scott served as director of sales at Virginia’s Lansdowne Resort and held several management positions with Hiltons' Washington, D.C. and Doubletree Hotels. Robison is a graduate of Virginia Tech, with a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management and a Concentration in Hospitality Management and Business. An avid sports enthusiast, Scott is excited to explore Maui’s many natural riches, to better navigate his new ‘backyard’ in anticipation of the arrival of his wife and two children this Summer.

Karen Yonemoto has been appointed as Sales Manager at Pagoda Hotel

Aqua Hotels & Resorts (www.aquaresorts.com) announced that Brian “Kovy” Kovaloff and Karen Yonemoto have joined the Pagoda Hotel management team. Prior to joining Aqua, Yonemoto was Sales Manager at Aloha Holidays and for twenty years with HTH Corporation. During her tenure with HTH, she held various sales positions for the Pacific Beach Hotel, King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel and the Pagoda Hotel. She was instrumental in creating and facilitating the Pagoda corporate program “Premier Club”. She was also responsible for bringing the Center for Asia Pacific Exchange (CAPE) and the Marianas program which the Pagoda still welcomes today. Yonemoto graduated with a B.Ed. and received a post degree in education from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

Brian “Kovy” Kovaloff has been appointed as Hotel Manager at Pagoda Hotel

Aqua Hotels & Resorts (www.aquaresorts.com) announced that Brian “Kovy” Kovaloff and Karen Yonemoto have joined the Pagoda Hotel management team. Kovaloff has been with Aqua since 2008 and was most recently Area Director of Facilities at the Aqua Palms & Spa and Pagoda Hotel. Prior to joining Aqua, Kovaloff worked in engineering at Hyatt Regency Waikiki and Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel as Engineering Supervisor and Safety Manager. Kovaloff graduated from Kamehameha Schools and completed the Building Maintenance Program at Honolulu Community College.

Noelani Cashman-Aiu has been appointed as hotel manager at Fairmont Orchid

Cashman-Aiu joins The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii from the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel where she held the position of hotel manager.She began her hospitality career at the Sheraton Waikiki as a guest service agent and in subsequent years held a variety of progressive roles, including hotel assistant manager, guest relations manager, account executive, senior sales manager, and director of training. In 2004, Cashman-Aiu relocated to the Big Island as director of operations for the Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa. She joined Prince Hotels in 2008 as hotel manager for the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel until 2010 when she was appointed to her most recent position as hotel manager, Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel.

Alice Bouman has been appointed as Resort Manager at Four Seasons Resort Lana’i at Manele Bay

Bouman, a 15-year veteran of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, has worked in management positions throughout North America, Europe and China. She makes the move to Hawaii from Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis, where she served as director of rooms for the 200-room hotel. Prior to St. Louis, Bouman was with Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara in various roles including director of housekeeping, assistant director of rooms and director of rooms. Her past experience also includes appointments in Houston, Texas; London, England; Beijing, China; Paris, France; and Amsterdam, The Netherlands. A native of the Netherlands, Bouman is a graduate of Hoge Hotelschool Maastricht, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and Hotel Management, with a specialty degree in Marketing. She lives in Lana’i City and enjoys spending time with family, travelling and hiking. In addition, she enjoys collecting organic and nutritional recipes from Four Seasons chefs to support sustainability and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Her brother, who recently lost more than 300 pounds on Holland’s Extreme Makeover Weightloss Edition, has been her inspiration and she looks forward to experiencing Lana’i's many adventurous offerings to stay active, which includes running after her black lab/spaniel mix Shadow on the island’s many white-sand beaches.

Stephanie Nojima has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at OHANA Honolulu Airport Hotel and Best Western The Plaza Hotel

Simeon Miranda, general manager of the OHANA Honolulu Airport Hotel and Best Western The Plaza Hotel, is pleased to welcome Stephanie Nojima as director of sales and marketing for the two Outrigger-managed properties. In her new role, Ms. Nojima is responsible for selling, promoting and optimizing revenue and room occupancy for the two airport hotels. Stephanie Nojima has gained years of valuable hospitality experience working in various management positions, including corporate/government sales manager for the Ilikai Hotel, where she had responsibilities for all hotel market segments; as general manager of the Park Shore Hotel; and as sales manager for the Ramada Waikiki Hotel, the position she most recently held.

Veljko Savic has been appointed as Spa Manager at Four Seasons Resorts Lanai

With a background in physiotherapy, Savic brings a wealth of knowledge and forward-looking methodology to The Spa at Manele Bay’s health and wellness program. A native of Serbia, he obtained his Diploma of Physiotherapy at the School of Medicine in Belgrade and then continued his studies with a Certification in Manual Massage Therapy from the Djuro Salaj Educational Center in Serbia. As a licensed massage therapist, Savic has incorporated his knowledge of physiotherapy and the workings of the body – such as anatomy and physiology, and combined them with a holistic approach, including aromatherapy, bio-energy and psycho kinesiology, when designing beneficial treatments and programs for guests. His health and wellness philosophy is to close the gap between treating the symptoms as in Western practices and treating the cause associated with Eastern practices.

Jim Heather has been named General Manager at Keauhou Beach Resort

Heather, who moves to the Big Island from his most recent post as general manager of the Outrigger managed Courtyard® by Marriott® Waikiki Beach hotel on Oahu, will assume his new duties on October 1 and will be in charge of all operational aspects of the 309-room hotel. Heather started his Outrigger career in 1998 as director of rooms for the Outrigger Guam Resort, where he played a key role in the opening of the property. In 2002, he moved to Hawaii to join Outrigger’s Condominium Collection as general manager of the Outrigger Kanaloa at Kona. After two years, Heather moved to Oahu and assumed leadership at Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach; and most recently, he successfully transitioned the Courtyard® by Marriott® Waikiki Beach from the Wyland Waikiki to the Marriot® brand. Heather’s experience in the hotel industry also includes management positions with Hilton® Hotels in Guam and Crowne Plaza® in Tokyo, Japan.

Cindy Gagle has been appointed as Director of Sales & Marketing at Turtle Bay Resort

Benchmark Hospitality International has announced the appointment of Cindy Gagle as director of sales and marketing for Turtle Bay Resort, located on the North Shore of Oahu. Danna Holck, Benchmark’s general manager at the resort, made the announcement. Cindy Gagle was previously regional director of sales and marketing (Hawaii) for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, responsible for the Kea Lani Resort Hotel on Maui and the Orchid Hotel on the Big Island of Hawaii. Ms. Gagle has served in sales leadership positions for hotels and resorts in Bermuda, California, Arizona and Hawaii. Earlier in her career she owned and operated a successful restaurant and lounge in Tempe, Arizona. Cindy Gagle is a graduate of Arizona State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition degree. She is the recipient of numerous sales awards for excellence and performance achievement. Ms. Gagle is relocating to Oahu

Chris Gampon has been appointed as General Manager at Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation

Gampon is no stranger to the Outrigger team as he was the general manager of the Banyan Harbor Resort on Kauai for ten years, a condominium property in the company’s affiliate Outrigger Lodging Services’ (OLS) portfolio. During his tenure with OLS, Gampon’s leadership skills were recognized on numerous occasions with the company’s President’s Award for Outstanding Management from 1999 through 2006. Continuing his successful hospitality career, Gampon most recently held the general manager position at Diamond Resorts International in Poipu, Kauai. Gampon is an alumnus of Kauai Community College and the John Stapleton School of Real Estate. His motivation not only lies in business but also in the community as he was the past Chair of Holy Cross/Scared Heart’s Finance Council and King Kaumuali’i School Community Council and past Board Member of the Kauai Chamber of Commerce and member of the Society of Human Resource Management.

Kevin Erving has been appointed as Executive Chef at Four Seasons Resorts Lana'i

Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, Chef Erving joined Four Seasons Resorts Lanai from Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver in June 2011, where he worked alongside former Lana'i executive chef Oliver Beckert as the Hotel’s executive sous chef. Prior to Vancouver, Erving served as executive sous chef at the iconic Ritz-Carlton Hotel Chicago, A Four Seasons Hotel. Before the “Windy City,” he held various culinary positions at Four Seasons Hotel Seattle, where he began his career more than twenty years ago.

Nicole Nagashima has been appointed as Director of Sales & Marketing at Courtyard® by Marriott® Waikiki Beach

Ms. Nagashima joins Outrigger with over seven years of hospitality industry experience. Most recently, she served as sales manager at Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa where she was responsible for overseeing various market segments, including groups, domestic and international wholesale, social, military and government, educational, religious, and fraternal markets since 2008. Prior to that, Ms. Nagashima was westbound leisure sales administrative assistant before being promoted to leisure sales manager. Before joining Marriott, Ms. Nagashima also worked at the Mandara Spa at the Hilton Hawaiian Village as a concierge shift supervisor.

Lauren Teranishi has been appointed as General Manager at Kona Reef Resort

Teranishi comes to the resort from Enterprise Rent-A-Car, where she served as branch rental manager for five years. While at the company, she opened a new airport rental branch location; created financial statement action plans; and posted positive operating profit for three, six and 12 months. As well, Teranishi analyzed market trends, rate structures and competitive pricing for the company. She previously worked in the marketing department at Pyramid Insurance Centre, Ltd. in Honolulu.

Bonnie Kiyabu has been appointed as General Manager at the Ocean Resort Hotel Waikiki

abu takes on the responsibility of running the 451-room Ocean Resort Hotel Waikiki as the property is in the midst of undergoing some exciting changes, highlighted by a complete renovation over the next year and its rebranding as a Hyatt Place Hotel later this fall. Before joining Ocean Resort Hotel Waikiki last month, Kiyabu had spent her entire career at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa, starting there in 1976. In the ensuing years, she worked her way up through management and most recently served as executive assistant manager since 1999. The position put her in charge of more than 400 associates and numerous responsibilities, including guest services, concierge services, front office, housekeeping, security, and spa operations.

Danna Holck has been appointed as General Manager at the Turtle Bay Resort

Benchmark Hospitality International has announced the appointment of Danna Holck as general manager for Turtle Bay Resort, the landmark property located on Oahu’s legendary North Shore. Greg Champion, Benchmark’s chief operating officer, made the announcement. A native of Hawaii, Danna Holck returns to Oahu after two decades on the mainland and in Puerto Rico, serving most recently as general manager for Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa in Rio Grande. Ms. Holck has held numerous general manager and executive-level positions at major brand properties in resort destinations throughout the United States. She began her career in hospitality sales and marketing at hotels in California, Hawaii and Florida. Danna Holck, who is of Hawaiian, Japanese and Norwegian descent, was born and raised in Kailua, Hawaii, on Oahu. Ms. Holck grew up in a military family -- her father was a soldier with the U.S. military's most highly decorated unit, the 442nd Infantry. She embraced the traditional values of her native Hawaii, including dancing the hula from age 5 and dreaming of becoming a professional hula dancer. Ms. Holck, who is trained in judo and jujitsu, attended the University of Hawaii, School of Travel Industry Management. She is relocating to Kahuku.

Eric Capdevielle has been appointed as director of finance at Four Seasons Resorts Lāna‘i

Just prior to joining Four Seasons, Capdevielle was director of Grace Bay’s Veranda Resort & Residences in the Turks & Caicos, and before that at Orient Express’ Bora Bora Lagoon Resort & Spa in French Polynesia. His previous experience as controller was garnered at Meeru Island Resort in the Maldives, Alliance Hospitality and Suez in Paris, and Club Mediterranee in Lyon, France. A native of Biarritz, France, Capdevielle studied at the University of Bayonne in France where he received his degree in Business and Administration. His further studies at the University of Bordeaux in France earned him a MS degree in Accounting and Finance.
