Davidson Hotels & Resorts Adds Hotel Viking in Newport, Rhode Island to its Pivot Hotels & Resorts Portfolio

Davidson Hotels & Resorts welcomes the addition of Hotel Viking, an iconic 208-room historic property in Newport, Rhode Island, into its portfolio, under its luxury and lifestyle division, Pivot Hotels & Resorts. Known as the "City by the Sea," Newport once rivaled New York and Boston as a center of commerce and was the preferred vacation destination for "America's First Families." Today, it remains one of the most affluent summer vacation destinations in the Northeast and attracts nearly 3.5 million visitors annually. Hotel Viking is located in the heart of Newport on Bellevue Avenue, steps from Newport's famed historic mansions and other attractions located along its path. Davidson's transition follows the acquisition of the property by an affiliate of KSL Capital Partners, LLC earlier this month.

Pamela Baldwin has been appointed as General Manager at Hilton Garden Inn Providence

Pamela Baldwin has been named the new general manager of the recently refurbished Hilton Garden Inn Providence. In her role as general manager, Baldwin will oversee complete hotel operations. Baldwin takes the lead at the hotel which recently went through a nine month total property renovation and rebrand. The Hilton Garden Inn Providence - the city’s only waterfront hotel - owned and managed by TPG Hotels & Resorts.

Amy Buzzell has been appointed as Director of Sales at Hilton Garden Inn Providence

Hilton Garden Inn Providence, owned and managed by TPG Hotels & Resorts and differentiated as Providence’s only waterfront hotel, today announced that Amy Buzzell – an established sales and marketing professional – has joined its team as director of sales. With nearly 20 years of experience overseeing sales for various hospitality properties, Buzzell will apply her expertise to developing effective pricing and revenue generating strategies for the hotel. Currently operating as the Wyndham Garden Providence at 220 India Street, the property is in the process of being updated and rebranded, and is scheduled to fly the Hilton Garden Inn flag in July 2016.

Keith Chouinard has been appointed as Director of Sales & Marketing at The Hotel Viking

Hotel Viking announced the appointment of Keith Chouinard as Director of Sales & Marketing. Chouinard joined Hotel Viking in December 2015 and is responsible for the hotel’s sales and marketing efforts including promotions, strategic partnerships, and new business development. Chouinard, who serves on the Board of Discover Newport, brings more than 15 years of experience in hospitality sales to the Hotel Viking team.

Jean Macomber has been appointed as General Manager at Courtyard by Marriott

Waterford Hotel Group recently appointed Jean Macomber as the General Manager for the 92-room Courtyard by Marriott in Warwick, RI. As general manager, Macomber is responsible for all of the hotel’s operations, sales, and administration, as well as the associates employed at the property. Waterford Hotel Group professionally manages the hotel.

Robert LaCasse has been appointed as General Manager at Hyatt Regency Newport

Robert “Bob” LaCasse has joined Davidson Hotels & Resorts’ team as general manager of the Hyatt Regency Newport, a resort property in downtown Newport surrounded by the waters of Narragansett Bay. He brings with him more than 25 years’ experience in the hospitality industry. Most recently he served as regional director of operations for Interstate Hotels & Resorts where he oversaw the day‐to‐day operation of five hotels. Prior to that, he was with HEI Hotels & Resorts, Le Meridien Hotel and the general manager at the Sheraton Austin in Texas.LaCasse has held a variety of roles throughout the hospitality industry, where he started as an executive steward at the Sheraton Boston Hotel. He was promoted up through the ranks to director of food and beverage. He has a Bachelor of Science from Hesser College, as well as a certification in Graphic/Advertising Arts from Blue Hills Vocational Technical Institute.

Sue Gallogly has been appointed as Director of Sales at Courtyard Providence Warwick

As Director of Sales, Gallogly will be responsible for the total sales effort of the hotel. She joins the Courtyard Warwick from her most recent position as Administrative Coordinator for the Rhode Island Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship at Brown University in Providence, RI. Her past experience includes serving as Director of Sales/Sales Manager for the NYLO Hotel Providence Warwick and Sales Manager for the Sheraton Providence Airport Hotel, both in Rhode Island. Gallogly holds an Associate of Science Degree in Food and Beverage Management and a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Sales and Meeting Management from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI. She currently resides in Cranston, RI.

Sean Riccard has been named General Manager at Courtyard Providence Warwick

As General Manager, Riccard will oversee all operational, sales and administrative aspects of the Courtyard Warwick. He most recently served as General Manager for the Hampton Inn Coventry in Rhode Island, and prior to that was General Manager for the Hampton Inn in Windsor, CT and the Hampton Inn in Coventry, RI. Riccard currently resides in South Attleboro, MA.

Amy Buzzell has been appointed as Director of Sales at Courtyard by Marriott Providence/Lincoln

Buzzell joins Buffalo Lodging with more than 15 years of hospitality experience. Most recently, Amy was working as a sales task force member for Marriott hotels in the North Shore area of Massachusetts. Her prior experience includes area sales work for the Residence Inn Tudor Wharf and assistance with a $12 million renovation for a Holiday Inn in Brookline, Mass.

Judie Ritter has been appointed as General Manager at the Courtyard by Marriott

Ritter joins the Courtyard Warwick with more than 17 years of experience in the hospitality industry. She first joined Waterford Hotel Group in 2008 as the general manger of the Homewood Suites in Ithaca, NY, which Waterford opened in 2007. Prior to this, Ritter was general manager for such brands as Hampton Inn, Comfort Inn, and Ramada Inn, and most recently served as the general manager of the Homewood Suites by Hilton in Virginia Beach, VA.

Anant Joshi has been appointed as Director of Sales & Marketing at Hyatt Regency Newport Hotel & Spa

As Director of Sales & Marketing, Joshi is responsible for all sales and marketing efforts for Hyatt Regency Newport, including devising and implementing innovative strategies for increasing guest and meeting traffic. A Rhode Island resident, Joshi arrived from Marriott International, where an 11-year run saw him holding positions focused on domestic and international sales including Regional Director of Global Sales, Asia Pacific Region; and Area Director of Sales and Marketing, Caribbean and Latin America.

James Cuccia has been named Food & Beverage Manager at Castle Hill Inn & Resort

A ten-year veteran of the Relais & Chateaux property, James joined Castle Hill in 1999, starting as a banquet server and bartender before he was promoted to Captain and subsequently to Assistant Banquet Manager and then Banquet Manager. James transitioned to the property’s dining room in 2005 and was named Dining Room Manager in 2007. James also played an integral role in the Inn’s achievement of the coveted Relais & Chateaux status. James holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from the University of Rhode Island. He currently resides in Newport with his wife, Marie.

Lindsey Struck has been named Rooms Division Manager at Castle Hill Inn & Resort

Prior to her new position, Lindsey was Reservations & Revenue Manager for the property. Before joining Castle Hill, Lindsey was the Assistant General Manager at the Crowne Plaza in Enfield, CT, where she was responsible for the daily operation of the 175-room property, including budget management and associate training. Before the Crowne Plaza, Lindsey was the Concierge Manager and Assistant Hotel Manager at Mohegan Sun Resort & Casino, where she oversaw the operations of the hotel lobby and its staff and ensured effective communication between hotel operations and the property’s additional departments. A graduate of Tulane University’s School of Business, Lindsey currently resides in Mystic, CT.

Daniel Braun has been appointed as General Manager at Castle Hill Inn and Resort

Originally from Luxembourg, Daniel is fluent in English, French, and German and brings a wealth of culinary and hospitality experience to the Inn, including his previous role as Castle Hill’s Food & Beverage Director, overseeing the awarded-property’s culinary and wine and spirits program. Prior to joining Castle Hill, Daniel was the Director of Food & Beverage for the five-star Grand Del Mar Resort in San Diego, CA, where he launched and directed all aspects of food and beverage operations at the luxury resort, including its fine dining restaurant, Addison; three-meal restaurant, Amaya; Cent’anni Café; Clubhouse Grill; in-room dining; lobby lounge; stewarding; banquets; and pool bar and supervised the 180-member food and beverage team. Previous to Del Mar, Daniel worked at the Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, first at the Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach, a five-star, five-diamond property, where he served as Assistant Manager at the property’s Bistro before he became Director of Restaurants, managing the operations of Bistro, The Restaurant, Room Service, Atlantic Bar and Grille, and the lobby lounge and supervised the 90-member restaurants team. Daniel then became the Assistant Director of Food & Beverage at the Four Seasons Resort Aviara in Carlsbad, CA, where he managed the operation of ten food and beverage departments for the five-star resort and led the 220-member food and beverage team. Daniel holds a Bachelor of Science in Hotel, Restaurant & Travel Management from Endicott College and a Hotel Management Diploma from Switzerland’s Les Roches. He also earned an advanced certificate in the Mastery of Wine & Beverages from Florida International University. Originally from Luxembourg, he resides in Newport.

Terry Bickhardt has been appointed as Co-President at HVS Hotel Management

Terry Bickhardt has joined HVS Hotel Management as Co-President. Bickhardt will work together with Kirby D. Payne, CHA to oversee business development and hotel operations for the full-service hotel management company. Bickhardt joins HVS Hotel Management with more than 25 years of industry experience, most recently serving as Co-President of the Waterford Hotel Group -- responsible for operations and sales and marketing. Bickhardt was also responsible for Waterford Group Restaurants and Waterford Venue Services. He has extensive knowledge and expertise in hotel, convention center operations and new hotel development. His background also includes roles with Marriott, Starwood, and Hilton.

Daniel Hostettler has been named Managing Director at Ocean House

Mr. Hostettler brings nearly 20 years of experience in the luxury hotel and restaurant industry, leading Five Star and Five Diamond hotel and resort properties across the United States and Europe. Most recently, Mr. Hostettler was the President and Managing Director of Lajitas - The Ultimate Hideout, an independently owned Mobil Four-Star, AAA Four Diamond, Leading Hotel of the World and Preferred Hotel of the World based in Texas. Previously, Mr. Hostettler served as Managing Director at La Posada de Santa Fe Resort and Spa and the Summer Lodge Hotel and Spa in Dorset, England. Mr. Hostettler received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a double major in Finance and Hotel-Restaurant Management. He is fluent in Swiss German, French and Spanish.
