After a year of staying at home, Americans are returning to travel and making up for lost time by booking their dream vacations. According to a new survey conducted by Hilton, 59% of respondents plan to jump back into travel with a bucket list vacation they would not have considered prior to the pandemic. The survey analyzed the impact COVID-19 had on Americans' travel habits and determined their most sought-after wish list destinations. The top locations included international and domestic landmarks like the Grand Canyon, Eiffel Tower, Niagara Falls, Statue of Liberty, the Colosseum in Rome and the Las Vegas Strip.
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the world's largest hotel franchising company with over 8,900 hotels across nearly 95 countries, has continued strong momentum in new construction for its newly introduced prototypes and dual-branded hotels. In the 12 months from April 2020 to March 2021, Wyndham has executed nearly 100 new construction deals across the United States, achieving approximately 90 percent of the previous 12 months' pre-pandemic levels. The company's new construction pipeline now includes over 260 hotels that are currently under construction contributing to an overall new construction pipeline of 950 hotels, which will add approximately 140,000 rooms to its domestic and international portfolio.

Scarlett Hotel Group (SHG) announced today that the company has purchased the former Wyndham San Antonio River Walk, located at 111 East Pecan Street in San Antonio, as part of a joint venture with Trailbreak Partners. The new owners have closed the property to begin implementing plans for a $50 million overhaul of the hotel which will be transformed to a luxury, full-service, four-star, 390-room InterContinental hotel in early 2023.
